I just called about the free PHWPM code, and I gave the AAA rep the APV code for the MYW package that we already have reserved. They told her that it was only good if we added the Deluxe Dining with wine add on and then the code would apply. THEN my friend that is going with us called (she booked hers directly through Disney) and the CM said at first that she wasn't eligible (she gave him the APF code for package with dining. (She already has a MYW w/dining package reserved) THEN she said she wanted to speak to a supervisor. He placed her on hold for 15 minutes then came back and said that the code wa sonly for preferred rooms and her was a standard. She said so switch me to a standard and he said they are all booked! What the..??? She got off the phone with him and is trying back this evening. As for me, my AAA agent said she would call back to speak to somneone else and then call me back. What in the world! All I want is the discount code applied!:confused3

Maybe, I don't know, its that you are trying for two discounts? The AAA discount and now you are trying for a code? I'm pretty sure disney doesn't allow stacking.

Your friend's problem sounds more like an availability issue.

Just because you have a reservation already doesn't mean you automatically get the discount on it. There has to be availability, like checking for a new reservation, at the resort you are staying in order for Disney to apply the discount code

Well there is availability because I just went through booking it online and and got the discount with the same package I have now, so I am canceling the one I have through AAA tomorrow. That saves me $352.00. It's a shame I had to go through all of that when there was availability and they could have just added the code and saved us all this time and trouble.

Glad you were able to find it. This is exactly why I don't use AAA to book my Disney vacations. There are some few agents that are very familiar with Disney and how their codes and discounts that work for AAA if your local one doesn't have one of these then you are out of luck. You know the old saying, you get what you paid for? I feel that the AAA discount is not worth the hassle of most their agents not having a clue on how Disney operates

I use an internet agency that I have been happy with for years and all they sell is Disney so they are always on top of the discounts and information

Have a good time

Thank you!!!!:):) I wish I hadn't had to learn that lesson that way, but will log that away for our next Disney vacations!

And another example of why I won't use AAA! Generally this creates problems.

Good for you, glad you can get the discount and, yup, dump going AAA. If I want it done right, I always do it myself (seems we on this board could be teaching the pros a thing or two):thumbsup2

with a few exceptions, AAA TAs are not the best source for Disney vacations. The one time I did use AAA, the agent went on and on about how they always find out about the deals first YADA - YADA - YADA. Thanks to these boards, I could run circles around her :thumbsup2 Just for ha-ha's I like to stop in & ask if she's heard of the lastest discount. The look on her face is always priceless!!!;)

Unfortunately, if you want a package with a AAA discount, you must go through AAA to get it.

If you use any other discount or upgrade, there is no need to use AAA.

And the different methods of booking use different package codes, which have different inventories and possible availabilities too.
So someone could see availability on-line, and call in and it not be available. They are pulling from different inventory.
Hopefully some day it will be as easy as just applying a code. :confused3

Are the savings worth it?

Considering the total screw ups and lack of responsiveness the avg AAA rep gives I am not sure they are!

I've used them a few times without any problems. Last time we would have saved about $300 at CSR, but I had them apply the free dining to the trip.

I'd say Disney screws up just as much if not more. Pick your poison. lol

I really think it depends on your AAA rep. I bookes through AAA months ago (because there were no rates for April). I told her right off the bat that I like to have control of things so she would probaly be hearing from me (alot). she was cool with that. I notified her 2 days before the public code came out & told her about it. that morning she was on the phone & got me the upgrade without a question. Also AAA gave by sister & her family the same discount. So....I did save the 280.0o/family of 4 (AAA discount was around 120.oo or so):cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

That's why I was more comfortable going with a Travel agent that works with Disney and knows all about the discounts then with AAA. My SIL, BIL,MIL and FIL all booked with AAA because they felt they were getting a better deal and they were unable to get this recent discount.
I got an email at 7:30am yesterday(Thursday) stating that the discount was released but we would have to stay at the POR instead of the POFQ. I said fine, we will change. I immediately called my SIL and MIL for them to call. We saved $600!!!!! for a family of 4 for 7 days! I will never go through AAA. When I booked with my travel agent she told me at the very beginning that her company watches for codes that Disney puts out and they contact the people with ressies at that time.

What do you mean "Disney screws up"? I call directly and confirm everything before hanging up the phone. Then I double-check the e-mail reservation details -- Where's the screw up? Goes smooth as butter and keeps flexibility in case a better code comes out. But I'm also not a package person, we have always found it best to get room, air, tickets, meals, rental car/towncar, etc. separately.

Park Hopper Water Parks and More. Its the ticket equivalent of saying "the works."

I called and was told there was no availability. Was told it was based on resort availability. I'm going to try again later because the rep was not very friendly. I too thought of going through AAA, but changed my mind when I saved $200 booking it myself online.

There are dozens of threads of messed up ressies, missing ressies, paid ressies appearing unpaid upon arrival, etc.

Here's the latest...
