5 years ago, DH and I hosted our own wedding at a very nice catering hall. We invited my mom's friend because mom asked us to. This friend sat with my mom and dad. Now, mom's friend is having a 1st anniversary brunch at an inexpensive buffet place for her own son and DIL. I think I babysat this kid once or twice. Anyway, I got an invite. I probably won't go because it falls on my daughter's birthday. My mom thinks I was invited because I invited her friend to my wedding-but I still don't understand why she would invite me to this. This woman is getting remarried next year. Does that mean I'll be invited to that also?
DH and DB say it is not necessary to send anything if DH and I don't go, but should'nt I send at least a small present? Like if the symbol for the first anniversary is paper (not sure what it is), I could give them a photo scrapbook & send it with my mom & dad. Should I send something, and what is a nice understated gift?

If it were me, I wouldn't go and I wouldn't feel obligated to give a gift either.

I would probably just send a nice card congratulating them. I would not send a gift.

Did you attend this woman's son's wedding? If not, I would just send a card.
