What gift did you get in abundance at your wedding?

5 woks!!! YIKES:eek:

We kept 1 and gave the rest as wedding presents to others. I know my cousin and BIL really liked theirs that we gave them.

3 toasters, 3 can openers. I returned all but 1 each and in 10 years of marriage how many have I gone thru? 3 each!

We married one week before Christmas. Very few wedding gifts and nothing in abundance.

Never marry a week before Christmas ;)

We got a couple of Crystal Bowls, but all different, no duplicates...

We got a lot of Cash Gifts, no duplicate Gift-Gifts. (YAY!)

Still doesn't mean we don't have things to return.

:p

We got lots of towels, year 1981. Was married 13 years before I had to buy new ones and still have a few hand towels that haven't quite bit the dust yet.

My sister received four crystal salad bowls, year 1978, one of which she kept for herself and the other three were given to her mother in law, me and our mother.

My cousin received numerous crystal bud vases, year 1977.

Any trends there?

I was in college when we married and received 4 crock pots.

Towels!!! Seven years later, I still have a linen closet full of towels that still have the tag-things on them, never been washed, nothing.

At least I won't have to buy them for a long time.....although I did give some to DH brother and to my brother when they moved out from parents' houses.

We also got 3 crockpots, but I returned those. Should have kept an extra, because I drowned mine (yes, I drowned it, lol) and had to buy a new one less than a year later.

We got three knife sets and three spice racks. And only three place settings of our china. I tell myself they are for intimate dinners with an extra just in case!

towels, towels & more towels, in all colors too:confused: some ended up being bath towels for the dog the color was so bad. I think maybe they were a regift.

At my wedding we got 2 toaster ovens (kept both, one broke 2 years in and we just brought out the other) and 2 can openers (the first one lasted 6 months, the other over 4 years)

The funniest thing I have seen at a shower was one girl getting 6 Fry Daddy's and 1 Fry Daddy Jr.! WOW! that will get the cholestorol high! hehehhehehehe! The Bride still laughs about it!

We got lots of dishes--some place settings we registered for, but we also got 2 sets of pottery-type dishes that we didn't register for.

got 19 place settings of china. The pattern I registered for was about 100 or 120 dollars. a month or so before my wedding the store I was registered at had it on sale. I remember it was about $75 a setting. I think that people thought it was a good price range for a nice gift! I was able to return all but 13 (kept an extra for breakage) and supplemented by crystal to fill that out. worked out great. The nice thing is because it wasn't unique (like 10 different vases) no one every realizes that their gift went back.

we were able to return some of them.

I like candles but NOT that much. Especially now w/ 2 preschoolers, I DON'T have time to polish silver candlesticks.

We also received 5 sets of bowls!

Judy
PS we got married in 91.
