What gift did you get in abundance at your wedding?

Bath towels! I think that was about the only thing left on our registry in the $40-50 range the day before (not a towel- you know, two bath towels, two hand towels and two wash clothes) because there is a picture of DH and I with about 12 or so sets of hunter green towels and we had registered for 2! I think about 5 of our friends must have been shopping at the exact same time and the registry wasn't updated quickly enough. We were able to return most of them and get a nice bread maker. :D

Towels for us too.

And it's actually kind of a cheap wedding gift story. My mother's first cousin decided to get us some cheap white towels that we didn't register for, like 2 bath towels, some hand towels and a couple of washcloths. They were definitely not the 100% cotton ones we registered for (which weren't expensive in the first place), and that's why we got extra. It was a small wedding, and most gifts were money or things from the registry. So no duplicates, really.

My problem is that the cheap towels were a joint present from my cousin and two of her adult children who were also invited. I would rather have gotten nothing from them. My maid of honor gave me nothing, but she was so great about my bridezilla-ness and threw me a fun shower. And on top of that she was in grad school and poor so I didn't need a gift from her. I got plenty of stuff. Another bridesmaid didn't give me my wedding gift until months later. Big deal. I knew they cared. But the nasty cotton/polyester towels as a joint gift from 3 people who I know make decent money? That was really rather insulting. If they were hard-up for $$ I could understand. If just one of them had given it to me, I would understand. But all 3 of them aren't so hard-up for cash nor so busy that they couldn't have taken the time to go to one of the stores' websites and gotten the right towels.

I guess my cousin was pissed because she didn't have anything to do with my wedding planning; but I'm not really close to her. I don't mean to be snotty about this relative, but she has been rude to my best friend and needs to control get-togethers that my dad (a widower) has at his house. But with her wanting to help with my wedding, let's just say I could tell that the person she was trying to be closer to was definitely not me.

Target gift cards and money :)

The Target gift cards were great - we could use them at Marshall Fields too, so we were able to use a lot of them to fill in the more expensive items on our registry, like crystal wine glasses, really good knives and china place settings.

China. We ended up with like 32 placesettings of china. I returned some, because no one needs 32 place settings of china!

If you count the shower too, Corningware. I already had a ton of pyrex bakeware (which I like better than corningware). Today is our 8th anniversary and I still have several boxes of unopened corningware sitting in my attic. I figured when the stuff I'm using starts to get "gross", I'd just throw it out and use the new stuff. 8 years and I'm still waiting......

Oh well, I guess when Brittany get her first apt she might like it.

Corningware & Pyrex casserole dishes!

We had so many duplicates (must've been on sale) that we were able to exchange the extras at Wally World for a vacuum cleaner & a boiling pot (a household necessity here!)

Baby sis received 6 crockpots ranging from mini (for dips, potpourri) to full-size.

8 (yes I mean 8) Crock Pots

We have a picture somewhere of them all stacked into a pyramid (that was before we returned 6 of them).

We kept one large and one mini and used the money to finish our crystal.

Believe it or not, table cloths.

No, we didn't register for them. But we got 4 tablecloths (the EXACT same one) from four different people.

I used one on the table and another as a Christmas tree skirt. The other two are packed away somewhere.

Another thing we received in abundance were towels. Nobody bothered to follow any of our three registries. We would seriously get a gift of ONE towel, which was invariably in a color that clashed with our bathroom.

I use those towels for our dogs' baths.

Wine glasses. Must have received 10+ sets. Didn't have to buy any more for at least the first 10 years of our marriage.

Money here as well. :)

I think we got a couple extra wine glasses and maybe a set or two more of china place settings than we registered for, but nothing else comes to mind. :)

we got 4 cutlrey sets...how many knives does a new wife need when shes mad at her husband???;) :p I returned all but 2 kept one and couldn't find the store for one to be returned.

I didn't do too bad. 2 crockpots and 3 coffee makers (and we don't drink coffee).

5 BBQ sets, which in tourn we kept one and gave away the 4 as wedding gifts.

We got several crystal frames, vases, dishes etc. What is funny is that we got all of these things from MF, but they didn't buy the crystal that we registered for--all in the same price range. I guess they didn't like our taste!

We also got 2 Dyson vacuums! $400 (the gift card amount for the return) is a lot of money to spend at Target, we're still working on that!

we didn't get any duplicates (well, except for cash and checks! but that was okay). I thank my registries and the fact that people used them.
