This is inspired by the wedding gift threads.

It seems like everyone gets duplicate gifts at weddings. I've talked to friends about this and folks have always said that there was something that they got several of. What did your friends think you needed in abundance?

I'll start. We got 8 cheese trays. I'm not kidding. I guess we looked like the wine and cheese type. :teeth:

we were very lucky , and the only thing we got lots of were our settings for our dishes.....we recieved 29 placesettings ! We also recieved 24 of our glasses ! I was able to return all but 12 place settings and use the $ to buy our flatware.

4 toasters and 3 hand held mixers. Not too bad all things considered. We kept one of each and returned the others with no problems.

We got about 8 casserole dishes. Most were from my in-laws friends so my MIL was upset that I wanted to return a bunch of them. How many casseroles can you make at one time?! We kept three, each was a different size, and returned the rest.

Money.

Seriously, cash and checks. Most who bought items did not duplicate.

ditto
we actually only received 4 "gifts" at our wedding...common for northeast...

Wow, I wish we had received an abundance of money!
We got alot of glasses and cups. I didn't return any sets, I just kept them to give out to other weddings.

We got an abundance of crystal bowls. Don't ask me why...

Tons of glasses... they didn't take it off our registery and got easily 30-40 of them. We registered for 18!

We also only got money...I think someone did give us an embroidered throw too, but it came with a monetary gift as well.

3 toasters, they were the only thing that we got more than one of.

FIVE electric knives!!! And Corningware out the gazoo!!

Fancy picture frames (I hate to have my picture taken) and 3 or 4 crockpots.

I also got two food processors. MIL was mad that I returned the one her friend gave us. I couldn't help it that I liked the other one better, and the friend never knew.

Honestly no "repeats" save some silverware, which is always welcome...

So I guess other than that, money :p

Towels, lots and lots of towels. But it was a good thing! I only listed colors for towels on my registry. We were married for at least 8 years before I ever had to buy a towel! :p

Coffee Makers.....we rec. 5 of them and the funniest part. We don't drink coffee. I kept the best one and returned the rest. We have been married 12 years and the coffee maker we kept is still in the box it came in, we have probably used it maybe 6 times.

Us too. Can't complain, we have very generous family/friends.

GLASSWARE! I have 12 every shape and size. high ball, rocks, cordials, white wine, red wine, margarita, martini, pilsner, pint glasses, beer mugs.................one's I don't even know what they are for.

Not to mention the crystal glassware my grandmother insisted on buying.

MerryPoppins - that's so funny. Must be an Oklahoma thing, we got several cheese trays & 8 silver trays. I think our friends were expecting a lot of parties from us!
