We are going to go ahead and go on our trip tomorrow and take our chances.

We now feel that the hurricane looks like its going to weaken and we know we will probably see lots of rain but hope that is all.

We are planning to see illuminations, have dinner ressies for fantasmic and of course MNSSHP.

Do they cancel all these for rain or some? And what happens if you have pre-paid like the fantasmic dinner package.

Also I paid for the pirate cruise for my girls. Anyone know what happens with that if it rains?

Thanks

The outside rides will shut down in just rain. As long as there is no lightning, fireworks go on as usual. I cannot answer as far as the pirate cruise, but the fantasmic dinner, you aren't paying for fantasmic, you are paying for the dinner. If you want to cancel that in the event that you think it will be a wash out, then do it. There may be a small chance that they will give you some sort of re-seating for fantasmic if you went thru with the dinner portion. You may want to call dining ressies and ask them that one....

I'm pretty sure that they will not give you seating for another show if yours is cancelled just because you booked the fantasmic dinner package. The way it was explained to me is you book at your own risk knowing that "due to inclement weather" fantasmic may be cancelled. Also, even if there is no lightning and it is just raining I have seen them cancel fantasmic due to the safety of the cast members. If you have ever been they do alot on a large mountain structure and I am sure if that got wet it would become a safety hazard.
As far as the other rides: I have been in MK during a rain storm and they closed Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Astro Orbiters, Cinderrella's Carrousel, Goofy's Barnstormer...basically any ride where you might be outside at a certain point. Same thing for Epcot: Test Track and the friendship boats where the only thing I saw close there.
I hope you have a good trip and do not have to worry about the rain :flower:

When it rains, all outside entertainment stops. For example: Cinderellabration, Trolley Show, ect. The characters all go inside. Outdoor rides can keep going, as long as there's no lightning and thunder (I should know. I rode Splash Mountain 4 times in a row in the rain!). For example: Dumbo, Kali River Rapids, Splash and BTMRR, ect. Test Track is a toss-up. Fantasmic can be done in the rain. One of the last times I saw it, it had be POURING all day. There were CMs standing outside of the arena saying that there was a chance the shows would be canceled. The rain started slowing down and they let people into the arena about 1 hr to 45 minutes before the show. They ended up doing the shows, but it was very wet. Also, because it was so windy, whenever the water screens were up the wind blew the water into the crowd. VERY uncomfortable. So it all depends.

I wold consider cancelling the Fantasmic Package - I just back and the crowds are pretty light - you don't really need a package to guarantee seating

I had dinner reservations for H&V on the Fantasmic Package for the first week of October. Thunderstorm Tammy rolled into town and DW didn't want to go out. I called WDW and asked what would happend because of the storm and they canceled my ressies for that night with no charge at all.

Parades are the first to go. I've been twice in all day rains (not thunderstorms) and have not noticed any attractions closing (except the old skyway years ago). Unfortunately, crowds don't thin out in rain.

Not necessarily. I've seen both SADCT and Spectro go out in the rain. In fact, I've worked both in the rain. It just depends on how hard it is raining, and if it is thundering and lightning.

Thanks so much everyone. I guess the main thing I was worried about was MNSSHP since I have pre-paid. We can probably rearrange which days we go where depending on the weather although it pretty much looks like rain all week so not sure.

At this point I am just glad we are able to go and hope that this hurricane settles WAY down for EVERYONE involved, especially those in it's path!!
