What Food will you always

Even better, there was a TV show :rotfl2:

 Holy crap, now we know what happened to Jar Jar Binks!::yes::

Funny thing about Foster's, even though it's considered crap in Australia it's still better than any of the big American brews.

We're also a member of the cheese drawer club, everything from plain old cheap grocery store cheese to the gourmet stuff. There's always peanut butter here because I don't eat it, DW makes some kind of protein bar with it.

Interesting thing about Foster's...
That's my maiden name and my grandfather and his brothers spent a few years researching the name. I can't remember the exact details, but they found out that Foster's was originally like an English wine company. The original founders sold it and it morphed into what it is now. (I was like 10 when he told me all of that so my recollection may be fuzzy... Don't take that info as gospel).

Fosters seems to be more heavily marketed outside of Australia than in it. I think the brand is primarily brewed outside of Australia. The label says Molson makes it for the US market. I'll drink it if offered. Most Australians I've talked to seem to be annoyed that non-Australians seem to think it's the quintessential Australian beer because of marketing.

I don't know if it's considered crap. It's just not that popular in Australia. The way it's marketed outside of Australia would be like if RC Cola was marketed so heavily outside the United States that people around the world thought it was the biggest American soft drink brand.

And the big American breweries could make stuff with more flavor and do. However, Bud, Miller, Coors, PBR are popular because people like drinking blandish beer that goes down easy. I remember talking to a guy who worked with a small local brewery. He said that Anheuser-Busch has made tons of one-off beers that were almost perfect clones of well known craft beers like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Their beermaking skills are second to nobody, but they primarily make a style that is bland but extremely had to make with the ridiculous consistency they achieve. Any bland beer is very difficult to mask any off flavors.

I was on a tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Fairfield, California when I saw stacks of Elysian Brewing Space Dust IPA there. They bought out a small brewery in Washington and were making some of it there.

Peanut Butter is the first thing to come to mind
Canned tuna (easy and fast protein)
Eggs (same as Tuna)
Pasta (all sorts, Italian and Asian)
Rice
Tea (Especially Peppermint since it is good for my flares)

Eggs
Cereal
Whole milk
Potato bread. - none of which I can stand but DH loves.

PB
Lemons
Tea - none of which my DH can stand

Mutual:

Bananas
Strawberries
Chicken soup.

Is coffee a food? :scared: The world would come to an end if I ever ran out of coffee
Yep. This is me. :surfweb:

Peanut butter, yes. There's always another jar stored away waiting for the current one to be empty...Cat food :p

Yes to both of those as well.

I'm with everyone who said cheese, too!

Also, I pretty much always have:
cereal
milk
pasta
eggs
English muffins
olive oil
salad (or the makings thereof)
fruit - at least apples, but usually more
ice cream
frozen pizza
beer
tea

And I lost the quote, but whoever said cake mixes (because you keep buying them when you already have one) - me too!! I never remember what flavor I have, so I see them on sale and buy one...and then realize it's a duplicate.

Yogurt, cereal, peanut butter, saltines, pretzels, coffee, wine, cheese. I'm in for the wine, cheese, and coffee; DH eats the rest (and the wine, cheese, and coffee)!

You never had cold peanut sesame noodles? Yum

There is always milk in my fridge with a back up jug. Oh and tea

MJ

Hhmmm, no I haven't. Maybe I was just thinking peanut butter and elbow noodles should never meet!?! :) But, I did try and make a peanutty stuffed noodle thingy once. So not good!

:cheer2: I’m awarding you the win today for having the most unusual pantry staple. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they always have English muffins!

We almost always have either English Muffins or Pepperidge Farm breakfasts breads (like cinnamon swirl, raisin, apple cinnamon, pumpkin in the fall, etc). The kids toast it up before school; some of them top the muffins/toast with peanut butter, and other kids will use butter.

We ALWAYS have:

Fridge:
Skim and 2% milk
orange juice or green tea
shredded and block cheese (various kinds)
sour cream
carrots
eggs
variety of fresh fruit (apples, bananas and clementines currently)

Pantry:
canned corn
canned tomatoes
pancake mix
chocolate chips
bread
dried pasta

Kids' closet (2 shelves):
5 or more different cereals
instant oatmeal
fruit cups (only for if we run out of fresh)
granola bars
some sort of cracker
some variation of a lunch treat (cookies, chips, rice krispie treats, fruit snacks, etc)

I haven't either, but I really like the idea of always having English muffins on hand. I haven't had one in years, and now it's the only thing I can think about.:)

 My DH considers them a breakfast necessity!

He usually eats them with peanut butter, or we sometimes make egg sandwiches.

Last week, we even made a childhood favorite - English muffin pizzas.

I seem to have three categories,

First, the things I buy to use once and then use so rarely that they seem to stick around forever:
flour, sugar, spices (pretty much all baking supplies as I rarely bake.)

Then the things that we use so often that we don't let ourselves run out, they are always on the grocery list:
steel cut oatmeal
eggs
almond butter
cheese
organic apples
bananas
tortilla chips
jalapeno cheese bread

Finally, the things we MUST have. If we somehow run out, someone's on the way to the store:
wine
coffee
really good salsa from the fridge section (not jarred)
