Not going while December (though it seems near now that I have paid!!!)
Really just wanted to take coffee, tea and some chocolates for Christmas. Will this be ok if we pack in the suitcase? Did take a jar of coffee one year but my husband got stopped and searched after we came out of immigration as they said it lookd like a joint of meat in the case! :sunny:

Thanks

Here is a link to the US customs site that lists all food products that can't be taken into the US:

US Customs & Border Protection

I think you should be fine with tea, coffe and chocolate :)

The things they are really tight on are meat products, vegetables, fruit, seeds, grains.

There were sniffer dogs at the first baggage claim in MCO in December. I saw a few people stopped and their bags searched after a dog had 'pointed' to their bags.

When we went last year we packed a few items for my son who is on gluten/dairy free diet - cereals, bread etc. These were all allowable items - the mistakewe made was not declaring them on the customs form you fill out on the plane. We were unfortunate and got pulled over by customs and were asked if we had any food - luckily she was understanding but pointed out that we could have been detained for not declaring these items. Basically whatever you take declare it.

I took a jar of coffee and box of tea bags.as long as they are unopened they are fine.
