Here is my situation. I have several weekend reservations coming up in April and May to stay at the GCV during F&W.

The first is opening weekend. Friday night I plan to dine at Steakhouse 55, and Saturday I am attending the Napa Rose Cooking School (where we cook & eat a 4 course lunch). We stay at the GCV Friday & Saturday nights.

In addition I plan to attend a Winemaker Dinner with Buena Vista Winery on April 23, a Brewmaster Dinne with Karl Strass on May 7, another Winemaker Dinner on May 21 with Groth Winery and Taste on May 29. We'll be going home after the dinners, but the night of Taste (and following night), we have a 1 br villa at the GCV (yay jacuzzi tub! :cool1:).

We are also booked in a studio the weekend of my birthday (May 1 & 2, Sat & Sun nights). A friend of mine and his wife are taking us to Club 33 for lunch on Sunday.

So here is my question:

Where should I make my Saturday night dinner reservation for May 1st the night of my birthday?

I personally love the Blue Bayou, ah.... pirates, Fillet Mignon, Chocolate mint doubloons and candle light, all of this and more under the evening sky of the ol' bayou. If you listen carefully you just might be able to hear the old man strumming his banjo, outside of his cabin.

DL PLAZA INN the Chicken Dinner white meat for me!! It is soooo good! and alot of food.

House of Blues Restaurant in the bar the Shimp Roll!!

On my birthday I want a nice glass of wine with Dinner so Blue Bayou is out, though I love the restaurant.

Love the Plaza Inn, but again want wine (it is F&W season!), not sure I could convince DP to eat in a bar, but that does sound intriguing.

How about Catal in DTD?

Hmmmm there's a thought, the menu looks interesting. I ate there many years ago and wasn't impressed, but Prime Rib sounds mighty tasty and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Patina group....perhaps it's time to revisit!

I thought the Blue Bayou did serve wine. Apparently not, in which case I wonder why?

Since it is in the park, wine is not served. Only Club 33 can serve alcohol.

However, to the OP, have you thought of Napa Rose in the GC.

Walt wasn't a drinker and he wanted the Magic Kingdom to be a family place, niether of the two parks serve alcohol, but every other park built after his death knows where the money is!

Napa Rose is where I have spent many of my Birthday dinners. I love to sit at the Chef's counter. I was hoping that someone here would clue me in to another place that I would enjoy, but I'll probably end up at Napa Rose. Worse things could happen!

Ariels Grotto is nice and its by water. At DCA they do serve alcohol because I guess DCA attracts an older crowd.

How about the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. It has nice dim lighting on the inside and there is also outside seating. They have a nice selection of food and drinks (alcohol as well) on the menu.

How odd, the other weekend I saw in DCA by pacific wharf, they had a stand or something serving beer, I hadnt seen it before until then. I personally love the Blue Bayou

I was going to suggest Jazz Kitchen - great chicken and you can definitely get wine here :thumbsup2

They serve alcohol at some places in DCA - not Disneyland itself though (except Club 33)

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm checking out the menus on allears.net!

I took my BF to Steakhouse 55 a couple of weeks ago for his birthday. Neither of us had ever been. It is classy but not pretentious with nice quiet big band music playing. We went at 5:30 and it was very mellow. The service was excellent and the food was awesome.

We did my husband's birthday at Catal and thought it was excellent. He got the lamb mixed grill, and we brought a nice barolo as they were having a free corkage special.

I'm doing Steakhouse 55 two weeks earlier (first time to order off the menu), and we'll be eating there three other times that month, so I'm looking for variety, but I can't wait to try it!

Hmmm, this is the second vote for Catal....I think I'm leaning toward this or Napa Rose. Tough decision, I love Andrew Sutton, but I also love the Patina Group, and it's been a long long time since I've tried Catal....perhaps I should get out and try new things!
