What exactly is Preferred Seating? Is it worth it?

What is preferred seating? What attractions is it for? How do you get it, is it like a Fast Pass? We are traveling with a 20 month old and a 5 year old

The only place "preferred seating" is worth it is for Aladdin. There are others (Muppetvision, Tough to be a Bug) but anyone can walk right in.
