What exactly are Crocs?

I'm glad to see that CM like to make fun of people while they are working. I don't mean to sound bitter, but what difference does it make what kind of shoes someone is wearing? I've seen women wear high heels in WDW and I can't see a problem with that. Would I do it? NO! But if someone else wants to wear heels, go for it! The way I see it, you more than likely are never going to see the people that you see on vacation ever again so do what you want! That is kind of why the vacation seems a little more relaxing! I've bought two pairs of Crocs and intend on wearing them at WDW. My family will be the ones with the pink, khaki, red, and black ones!

I honestly couldn’t give a hoot if someone doesn’t like my shoes as long as I like them. Having said that it took me a while to buy the “ugly” shoes, but once I did I wished I would have sooner. They are the most comfortable, relaxing shoe on the face of this earth. I have birks, I have clogs, I have snickers that I was professionally fitted for and no other shoe is as comfortable as my navy blue crocks.

Hmmm...maybe since there is such an 'ugly but ohhhhh so comfy' movement with regard to Crocs...maybe we should suggest to Disney that they take advantage of the bright colours and make them the official CM shoe? Less lower back pain/sore feet = lower sick days and OH&S complaints??

Whatdya think?? *giggles* I mean...Tomorrowland CMs...black would go good with their costumes. Splash Mountain, brown in keeping with the rustic theme..same for BTMRR. Various colours in FantasyLand, depending on where one worked....There are even closed toe varieties for those working behind the scenes in kitchens and such.

*giggles*

Crocs...the 'official' shoe of Disney...?
:stir:

My fiancee just suggested that for Disney, maybe Crocs would create a special 'hidden mickey' cutout!!! Love it!!!!!

Or maybe...Disney should do the smart thing and work with Crocs to develop a 'Disney only' style to be sold AT Disney (hidden mickey's perhaps?).

Hmm...my advertising/marketing roots are starting to seep into my 'fun life' again. *sigh*

After replying to this thread earlier, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go out and buy my first pair of Crocs. Me being a 'Birkenstock girl' was a bit leary, but after stepping into my first pair earlier this week I just knew I had to have them. Can't wait to wear them!

Great idea. They sorta look like Mickey's shoes anyway :lmao:

So the ugly shoes actually have their own name? LOL!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but lots and lots of CMs think they're the most rediculous things ever. The CMs I work with make it a point of seeing how many pairs we can spot in a day.
Do you still work at Disney? I guess I am kinda surprised that a Disney cast member would be mean enough to make fun of guests. I always thought they tried to hire nice, happy people. :confused3 It just seems mean spirited.Until you walk a mile in my Croc's you really cant say and if you do walk a mile in em I betcha buy a pair! :rotfl2:

Since comfort is all that matters, why don't we start wearing bathrobes to WDW. Not just bathrobes, but the ugly brightly-colored bathrobes. I can see it now...droves of Disers in bathrobes and crocs.

Speaking of comfort - lets burn our bra's while we're at it.

On the comfort issue of crocs. I was one of the people that thought that crocs were the ugliest shoe that I had ever seen. After seeing some posters raving about them and then having a nurse friend tell me that it was the first shoe that she has ever worn through a 10 hr shift and then "forgot" to take off after she had been home for 2 hrs, I got a pair.
They are comfortable.
I do want to feel good about how I look at WDW but after being there multiple times with hurting and hot feet it was an easy choice for me to make! I wore crocs the entire trip and it was wonderful. My feet and legs didn't ache.

So even if they are the ugliest shoes around - I will wear them and be comfortable and pain free. :teeth:

This is the BEST idea I've heard in a looooooooooooooong time!!!!!!

Do your feet sweat in the heat? I can't imagine why they wouldn't sweat...unless you wear socks with them. I'm showing my ignorance, of course.

I can't bring myself to buy the clog style, but i did buy the flips flop style which is pretty comfy...I have yet to test them in all day wearing though. Haven't gotten the chance!

The flip flops look more cushy than the clogs too.

And as far as mean CM's?...they're out there. Just like there are mean people in EVERY business.

My daughter & I went to mall of america tonight. I was determined to buy a lime pair of crocs. We went to 2 carts and Nordstroms. There were none left. I was having trouble with the 7's to small & the 8's huge. I'm still looking. I really want a pair. I also want to get those cut snap shapes you can put on them.

REALLY COMFY!

You can purchse the crocs online at extemefootwear.com for $29.95 - no tax or shipping.

I bought a pair of the Athens (flip flops) at a local store. They are very comfortable. Crocs only come in whole sizes and run large. I usually wear a 9 in shoes, and I bought the 8 in Crocs because the 9s were way to big.

I like the idea of having something other than sneakers to wear at WDW. All my other sandals hurt my feet or give me blisters when I wear them all day in the Florida heat.

I learned about Crocs on this board and decided to buy a pair online from their store. I wear them all weekend. I have to "dress up" for work, so I can't wear them to the office. I am looking forward to wearing my Crocs on our June vacation to Orlando. :cool1:

As far as the CMs go - I would rather be comfortable in the parks. I will spend more money on food and souveniers the longer I am in the park. If I go back to the room because my feet hurt, I won't be spending any money!!!

P.S. Thanks to my friends on DISboards for introducing me to Crocs. I have the navy blue Beach. :cheer2:

After reading this thread, I just broke down and ordered myself a pair of caymans and a pair of the flip flops and a few pair for my kids. I sure hope they are worth the hype. I have been thinking about it for a while now. I don't know about other areas of the country, but here they are very popular with teenagers and kids. I think they are now a fashion statement as well as a comfort shoe.
