What else to say to the characters???

My Dh and I are in our 20's (he's pushing 30 - shhhh!) and we don't have any kids, but we still say things like, "You're my Hero!" or "You're my favorite!" Or "Nice dog tag, Pluto." or "Minnie! I love your fashion sense!" :)

I was filiming the interaction with my daughter and Daisy Duck. I said "daisy you are a total hottie" The response was very cute. She acted all embarrassed, coy, and then flirtatious. Was very cute

We were there in mid-February this year and my dd's (3, 4 1/2) wanted to give them valentines, so they gave each of the princesses a heart (we had painted all our hearts for cards...). We also asked them the tell their prince to be extra nice to them on V Day... my girls had *so* much fun doing it and I think the princesses thought it was really cute.

Since we go in February every year (to visit family there), I think it may become an annual tradition...

Aw... that's so cute! I think this year I'll ask Pluto for an autograph for my dog - Clydas. (see picture).
Clydas1.jpg

I sure will miss the little fellow while we're in Floridia! I would take him with us, but somehow, it just seems cruel to subject him to a 6 hour plane flight.

A few years ago we went. My DS 1.5 yr old loved Pluto. However, when we got there he was scared of all the characters. We ate at Garden Grill and Pluto came along. He couldn't get within 3 or 4 feet of him. We asked Pluto to sneak up behind him next time around. He came right back around and snuck up right behind him. We got tons of pics of pluto make all kinds of silly gestures not more than a foot behind DS. DS had no idea he was there. Those pictures are priceless!!

What ever you do...do not say the words "How Rude" in the same tone as Little Michelle uses on Full House (yes I still watch full house) to Captain Hook. He will give you more attitude than it's worth. Although his reaction is hilarious.

I tend to say "You're my favorite!" to the characters during a character meal that are giving me the most attention, like Eeyore and Goofy. They tend to come around my table and flirt with me or hug me! BTW I'm 20 (soon to be 21!!) and seem to have more fun the characters than I did when I was younger!

When we visited WDW two years ago we had a character dinner with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet at 1900 Park Fair. Well my neice who was 2 1/2 at the time was absolutly terrified and unfortunatly still is. Most of the characters did keep their distance but one of them did come over and, I guess trying to show he was sweet and harmless, gave me a kiss on the top of my head. My brain is getting old I can't remember which one. But the thing I do remember that it was an actual kiss, not just putting the mouth to my head and acting like it. :love2:

We're just back from a week at the World and did 3 character meals (Chef Mickey's, CRT and Princess Storybook). I wanted to share with you some of our experiences with the characters. Thanks to all for your suggestions, we used a few with great success. My nieces (7 and 4) love it!

We asked Belle what book she is reading and she very enthusiastically answered, "Sleeping Beauty! I just love it and I've read it a hundred times, the shopkeeper gave it to me."
Mary Poppins - we asked her to say "supercallafrag...(spelling!)" backwards and it was classic - she replied, "well of course I can!" and then she said it perfectly! My 4 year old niece asked her to say it again and she said, "well, I think it's a bit much, but I will." And she did. We applauded and she looked quite smug. It was great!
Chip and Dale - we pitted them against each other as to who was more fun. They were quite adamant about making their case!
Mickey - we complimented him on a fabulous meal and he bowed and gestured modesty. We also told him he looked very handsome and he kissed our hands!
Jasmine - my 4 year old niece asked her if she and Aladdin fly their magic carpet in the rain. She replied, "well, yes, we don't like to, but sometimes we have to - it does work."
Cinderella - we asked her about her stepsisters. She said, "oh, they're just dreadful, they are back at home, trying to marry a prince!"

There's ore, I just can't remember. It was just great though, for the girls to have something to say, other than just gawking. They (and we) loved it.

These are great!!!! Keep it coming. :flower: I am taking notes for our next trip.

I remember last year we were eating at the character breakfast at Cape May,
and Chip came to us and I turned to my kids and said 'look here is the smart one.' He got a kicked out of that. :goodvibes Then Dale came by and I said 'look here is the cute one.' He got all bashful on that one. I love talking to the characters.

I had made photo cards for each of the characters, or so I thought. But when we found Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, I couldn't locate Mr. Smee's card. When I told him I had lost it, and asked if he would sign Capt. Hook's card, he got very upset and walked off (and then came back for a picture.)

The photo cards are usually a hit, and the characters always make a big deal about seeing their picture. But the less popular characters and the rarely seen ones are much more enthusiastic

How did you make these cards? That's a cool idea!! I'd like to do something like that for my kids when we go next month. :cool1:

Just a little story about how great the characters are: My ds loved goofy and begged for us to bring him to disney when he was five. This being one of the first times we decided to get a character breakfast so that he could interact with the characters in the beginning of the trip. Well that morning we get to the breakfast and he freaks out. He gets underneath the table and won't come out, he is so afraid. Guess he did not realize that they are actually that big. Well anyway, Minnie came to the rescue. She saw him under the table. She picked up a napkin and bent down to wipe his face. It was the ice breaker. After that he was not afraid of the characters anymore and lo and behold we have been going every year to see Goofy.

Watch out for Liver Lips. He likes to take your hat and run away.

A thing never to do is answer your cell phone when a character is at your table. Mickey had a really long conversation with my Dad's boss at Chef Mickey's.

When I worked there the character they played depended on the persons height. I think the tallest Mickey and Minnie could be was 4' 10, maybe 5 feet (I could be remembering wrong but I know it was pretty short), so they're mostly girls.

I could so be Mickey or Minnie, since I'm 4' 10" myself! I knew that there was something good about being so short! :rotfl:

DH and I have no kids and we love the characters.

Let's see over the past 5 years....

Cruella De Vil - We made the mistake of wearing STRIPES on our pirate costumes (MNSSHP). She informed us of our fashion faux pas and made it clear that she liked SPOTS!.

Queen Of Hearts - On the Disney Wonder I forgot to bow and she made a motion that was unmistakable..."off with her head!"

Chip and Dale - These two are FLIRTS! Offer them a treat, tell Dale how sweet he is, etc.

Princess Jasmine - Like many men, DH likes Princess Jasmine and Jessica Rabbit. So we find Princess Jasmine while DH is wearing a Jessica Rabbit shirt. Princess Jasmine proceeds to tell my DH that she's prettier than Jessica.

The Queen - Careful of your choice of words. I told her she always was the fairest in all the land. She replied," Was?!" I then told she IS the fairest. "That's more like it."

Minnie - Like others....comment on her wardrobe, her love of Mickey, why she doesn't have a diamond ring after all these years... ;) Later ask Mickey why Minnie doesn't have that diamond yet.

Belle - We were are CRT Breakfast a few years ago. My mom asked about the Beast and if he had a flea problem. Belle quickly turned around and laughed for a second, and then came back into character.

Prince John - Tell him he's the rightful king, and he'll agree!

Donald Duck _ I told him he was my favorite, but he didn't believe me wearing a Mickey t shirt, Mickey fanny pack, and carrying a Pal Mickey. I then proceeded to tell him he needs to speak to his boss about his merchandise because I would have preferred to have a "Pal Donald" instead of a Mickey. He got a kick out of that and signed my book "My Pal, Donald Duck #1"

Garden Grill - Mickey, Chip, & Dale. It was our honeymoon and the restaurant was practically empty, so we got a lot of character interaction. We were wearing the Mickey Bride& Groom Ears and got a free cake. Chip & Dale kept fighting over me, Dale proposed and wanted to marry me...Chip wasn't going to stand for it. It was funny. We barely had time to eat our meals due the characters spending so much time with us!

Jessie the Cowgirl - She loved my Pal Mickey and kept squeezing him and laughing at his corny jokes.

Tigger - Loves bouncing of course, so bounce with him!

Meeko - Offer him some food, or he'll eat your autograph book.

Peter Pan - Oh My God....he wouldn't shut up! :rotfl: Anyhow we decided to swap jokes we've heard from small kids regarding pirates. Like...What kind of movies do pirates like? One rates Arrrr And...Why are they rated R? Because of all the Pirate Booty in them.

Cinderella - I told her how wonderful her breakfast was years ago. She then said "Oh, then we've met before!"

White Rabbit - Asked him about the time and that maybe he should consider getting a timex so he's on time more often. ;)

Tweedle Dee and Dum - Mention how much they look alike!

Suzy and Perla - Tell them they did a wonderful job with Cinderella's dress. Ask the whereabouts of Jaq and Gus Gus.

OOOO!!! If I see Bert and Mary Poppins (and DH and I are having bkfst at 1900 PF for THAT reason alone!) I'm going to say to Bert "Coo.....whot a sah-yeet!" And tell Mary Poppins that she's "practically perfect in every way!"

I remember meeting Mary Poppins and she asked us where we came from. When we said London, she asked if we lived near Cherry Tree Lane. We said "not very far" and she asked us if we knew the Banks family. We said we did and they had fond memories of her and were now very happy. Bert asked us if we had need of a good chimney sweep and we said we would let him know as long as he didn't make a mess of the carpet!!

Also in Hollywood and Vine my granddaughter had a pen with a Goofy head on top and, when he came round, Goofy made such a fuss of her and the pen and went off to show the others. We took some lovely piccies that day.

The best interaction with the Hundred Acre Wood charactes was at breakfast in OKW. It was fairly quiet in the restaurant at the time and Tigger joined us at the table encouraging hubby (who doesn't do much interaction) to join in. Eeyore came over looking glum as usual and my granddaughter asked him if it was because he hadn't had breakfast yet. He started rubbing his tum and shaking his head. She said "I'm going to tell them to get you some brekkie" and he perked up and went off happily, only to stoop and look glum at the next table. Granddaughter said "look he's trying to get ANOTHER breakfast! He's cheating" to which Pooh shook a finger at him and looked disgusted. :rotfl:

I have had a lot of fun reading this thread. I have taken a lot of notes for our trip next month.

Back in 2001 my ds who was 3 at the time saw Mary Popping and Bert at MGM. Bert was talking to him about his alligator tank top. About an hour later we lined up for the parade and when Bert came up, he said "hi Jacob". I caught it on video. Such a great moment.

The characters are a big part of the parks and we always tell them thank you. :flower:
