What else to say to the characters???

I LOVE interaction with characters and have had to overcome a little shyness over the years to get there. We were just at Disneyland in late April and early May eating at Goofy's Kitchen one morning. Had a blast with Goofy talking about his new refurbished ride at DCA and my favorite "instructional" video he put out. Had a lot of fun with Dale when he came over. We were there with my oldest daughter and her new husband (his first visit). Chip & Dale are my daughter's favorite but she is also a little shy with the characters, so when Dale came over I told him about how much my daughter loves him, but that she thought he was Chip and on top of that thought they were weasels instead of chipmunks. The reactions were hilarious, and it was quickly determined that I was both a liar and crazy. The pictures were special and my "super mature i'm a married woman adult daughter" was thrilled to get autographs. On top of that my son-in-law is a big convert now. :goodvibes

this happend at Dland, but still - we had just arrived there, and I had to..um use the facilities, so I choose the ones next to what is now the Disney Gallery. Cruella was going off stage and the walkway to off stage is the same as the one to the restroom...

Anyway, I was behind her a little, but as soon as she went behind the "cast member only" partitian, she did a glamourous re-entry backwards with cigarrette holder in hand and said "hello darling!" and then re-dissapeared.

It made my day! She could have have just continued on to her break, but instead went above and made a memory for me to cherish!

My husbands favourite character is Donald Duck, on our last trip to WDW, on the day we went into Hollywood Studios, he happened to be wearing a Donald T shirt, a Donald baseball cap and a pin lanyard with only donald Pins. We spotted Donald, and the line for him was short so we decided to get our photo taken. Donald was so happy to see my husband Donald clothes etc, that he insisted on having pics took with him, donald did about four or five different poses.

So, you don't always have to say something clever to get a great response, wear a tshirt with your favourite chaacter!

Tell Peter Pan you saw pirates.

Ask Wendy about the lost boys or nana.

Ask The Mad Hatter a riddle.

Has anyone ever mentioned the more recent Alice in Wonderland movie to any of the AiW characters?

One time I was talking to the Queen from Snow White and she points to my mom and goes "Is this your mother?" "Yes." "I'm sorry." Also, she would demand me stand next to her. "Stand here." "Okay." "No, here! I'm sorry this is your daughter. She isn't very well behaved."

One time my mom and I were last in line to meet the Mexican Donald in Epcot Mexico so we had more time. He pointed to the Mickey heads I put on my hat (I had all of the characters sign a hat I decorated) and put a thumbs down, while thumbs-up-ing at my mother's tattoo! I got the biggest kick out of that. He even made us take pictures together, separately, and with us kissing him. :)

I hugged Jafar. He flipped out. Enough said.

I've also had the greatest conversation with Alladin and Jasmine. Alladin- "Your bag wouldn't be good for the marketplace. You could only fit.. 3, maybe 4 apples in there? Oh, and definitely not a whole loaf of bread." "Sorry, I'll work on that."
Jasmine- "I love your hat! Where in the marketplace did you buy it?" "Uhh.. Marshall's." "Does Marshall only sell hats?" "No, he sells clothing and shoes, too!" "I'll have to check him out."

I got lucky, too, because Buzz Lightyear made sure that he actually signed my hat instead of stamping it and I would go over with the sharpie. (Mr. Incredible stamped it) He kept pointing to it and I had no clue what he was talking about at first, but then I got it, passed the sharpie, and held the hat.

On my first trip, I was eating at LTT and Goofy kept sneaking up to this girl and ringing the bell and scaring her so bad.

We have a couple to share....

Our first time bring oldest DD was suring MNNSHP and when we were in Toon Town with the Princesses at the end of the night, in walked Minnie and Chip. Minnie and Chip started waltzing around the room and my then 4 yr old yelled "I'm telling Mickey" and Minnie Mouse got all embarrassed and Chip ran and hid.

Last year we went while I was 7 months pregnant. While visiting with the Princesses, my son who was almost 2 pointed out my baby belly and said that there was a new princess on the way. We were the last in line at the time so when he said that Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora flooded around me and asked my son what the new princess would be named and when he replied "Ella" Cinderella gave a huge smile and said to Belle and Aurora "He must like ME best!" (On a side note, the princesses in Toontown made SUCH a fuss with my son as he was the only little boy in line to see them. He walked out of there covered in lipstick!!)

Also on last year's trip, when meeting with Lady Tremain and her daughters, they asked my son if he was available and could they have a kiss. He was very reluctant as they had heavy, heavy make up on. His solution was to ask for a high five. Anastasia gave him a big high five to which her sister replied "Slap her again...harder this time!" I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants!!

I love these ideas, on my next trip maybe I'll tell the Mad Hatter its my unbirthday or tell Woody and Buzz I have dolls of them at home, its just fun to see them react.

Also (when their officaly in the parks) I orginally planned to Ask Phineas and Ferb "Wheres Perry?" but their is going to be a Perry character, so I'll say "what chu doing?" like Isabella instead.

Also when the UP characters where at DHS Russel checked out my pin lanyard then showed off his Wilderness Explorer badages it was cute.

Totally side tracked, but is there an official date for when they will be in the park? I am so hoping they'll be there by the time we go in October!

This doesn't really count as speaking to the characters and unfortunately my family wasn't there to witness it; I was picking up our photopass pics and CD at WDW when Daisy walked in, I just waved to her and she came over and gave me a huge hug. It would have been anything but she was being escorted to the back and I was way off to the side away from the rest of the customers. That made my day.

I've had a few:

Captain Hook/Smee: I wore my Tinkerbell shirt when my sister and I met them. Well Hook got one look at my shirt and just starred me down. Finally he saw my autograph book, took it and swung it around angrily before signing it. As all this was going on, Smee had finished with my sister's book and was impatiently waiting for Hook to be done, so he began flapping the book at Hook so he would hurry up.

Aladdin: He asked how we had gotten to Florida and I told him that we flew. Well that got him excited, even after I told him it was an airplane not a carpet. He asked how long it took us to get there and when I told him 3 hours, his jaw dropped and he starred at the CM/my mom/photographer. Then he started going off about how that is WAY too long and the carpet is much faster. Even as we were walking away he called after me and told me that we can borrow the carpet if we want to get home. Loving Aladdin as much as I do, it was awesome!

Pooh: We were in AK, leaving the meet and greet area that was sort of hidden and Pooh was going off to a break. We stopped to let him pass, but instead he grabbed my sister's hand and they walked down the path hand in hand...it was adorable!

Bert: I didn't say anything to start it but when posing for the picture Bert asked if he could take my arm and promised that he would give it back when he was done...I thought it was funny.

When my oldest was 7 we met Mary Poppins for the first time. Katie looked up at her with a very serious expression and asked, "Mary Poppins, are you really practically perfect in every way?" Mary Poppins loved that and had a sweet conversation with her. Last year, my youngest daughter met Mary Poppins and Bert in Town Square. Just as she was preparing to get the autograph a handler decided to move them to a shaded spot near City Hall. As Mary took my then 10 year old by the hand and escorted her to the new spot, Libby asked her if she could say Supercalifragilisticxpalidocious (sp?) backwards. MP responded, "of course, I can." And, she went on to say it. Also, my youngest was wearing her Snow White costume in Town Square once and went to get Jiminy Cricket's autograph. He acted as though he was amazed to meet a princess and gestured to his handler for paper. He insisted that my daughter give him her autograph. She felt very special.

I have a question. I've been taking notes and now know what to say to certain characters to get great, cute reactions from them, but then one character I really like to pose with whenever I go to the MK and locate him is, of course, Buzz Lightyear. :teeth: Now, my question is what should I say to him to get a cute reaction? I realize that the only answers I'll be getting back are silent ones, so what should I bring up to him? I'm just curious, and would really appreciate an answer. Thanks. :teeth: :hyper:

We met Buzz outside of the Carousel of Progress. After my daughters got their autographs (actually a stamp from Buzz), he noticed my husband standing there and challenged him to a push-up contest! I have a great picture of Buzz and my husband doing push-ups. Then Buzz gave him a high five. It was so funny (my husband was a little embarassed). Buzz quickly became our most memorable character to meet.
I'm sure if you comment on his strength he'll show off in some way. Good Luck!

What a sweet thread! It is so much fun to remember those moments that put the trip to a whole new level! Some of our favorites:

* At 1900 Park Fare, my DD6 refused to hug Cindy- she was worried she would get her dress messy. Cindy reassured her she had a closet full of dresses that the mice made her, and a hug from DD was worth it.

*Again, at 1900 Park Fare my DD10 told Anastasia that she liked her in Cinderella 3... Anastasia said "Really? I liked me, too"

*At Star Wars Weekend, my DS8 was in HEAVEN!! When we met Anakin he told him he had just met his son, Luke. Anakin looked at him blankly, and explained DS must have him confused with someone else...He didn't have a son...it took my DS a minute to get it-

*At Epcot, Belle engaged my 4 kids, DD's 12, 10 and 6 and DS 8 in a game of tag with the princesses across the park. Belle asked them to "tag" Mulan if we saw her. When we saw Mulan, she asked us to tag Snow White...the game lasted all day- and the kids were thrilled!

*At another Star Wars weekend, DS4 was waiting in line to meet Darth Vader. As luck would have it, one of Jabba's Guards came up and started tickling my dad's ear while he was taking a picture. DS was terrified of the guard and got nervous... Vader went on to use the force on the Guard, and forced him out of the building, he then turned his attention back to DS and gave him a 10 minute light saber lesson.

*One of my sweetest most cherished memories happened years ago... My youngest were DS 2 and DD 6 months, and they just didn't like fireworks. I took them to the Toon Town Tent during the fireworks- the place was absolutely empty, with the exception of 1 other family. DS played Duck, Duck, Goose with Chip, Dale, and Minnie, with the 2 kids from the other family. When DD started fussing in her stroller, Chip picked her up, sat down with her and rocked her back to sleep. We stayed there for about 40 minutes... nobody came during that time... It was incredible!

There are so many more, but those stick out right now :)

All right....... apparently you didn't read the rules before posting. Clearly detailed on page 1, subsection 4, paragraph Q, line 8:

"Anyone posting an amazingly cute visual story is required to post a picture along with said story."

So????????? :goodvibes
