By the way - you guya and this board are great!!!

ok here is what I have so far
we bought a videocamera that is small enough to fit in a fanny pack - I got spf 40 sunscreen - got two swimsuits for daughter - we already have wind breakers

today I get 1) two fanny packs for the grownups - 2) a pair of tennis shoes for me - 3) a backpack to bring a change of clothes in to put in a locker - 4) I am going out to get lighter colored and lighter fabric clothing because all I have are jeans - 5) hats - 6) bug repellant - is there a sunscreen/repellant combo? 7) plastic bags of some sort to keep the cameras in .......oh and 8) ponchos for rain - and 9) a pair of two way radios I think

what do you guys think? - your ideas have all been very helpful Thank you very much. Is that about it you think?

You need a foot care kit:

moleskin
spray antiperspirant
small pair of scissors to cut the moleskin
bandaids
blister gels

If you plan to carry new tennies to WDW you definitely need to take this with you.

Before you put on your socks and shoes spray your feet with the antiperspirant. It tickles when you do that :) It also keeps your feet from sweating so much, which cuts down on blisters.

If you get a "hot spot" on your foot, cut a piece of the moleskin large enough to cover the area and apply over the hot spot. Don't use this on a blister, just on a red area that is being irritated by your shoe.

I take a small ziplok bag with a piece of moleskin cut into 1 inch squares into the parks in my waist pack. I don't know if they would allow your little scissors into the parks or not.

Now, tell me. Did you have a happy birthday, yesterday? Did you celebrate your little socks off?

You are going to have a magical trip, I'm sure of it!

Katholyn

thanks - the mole skin idea is a good idea - and thank you for your birthday wishes - yep had a good birthday

just bought

moleskin
spray antiperspirant
small pair of scissors to cut the moleskin
bandaids
blister gels

thanks again:teeth:

Not sure if the change of clothes is for all of you or just DD - but you probably only need it for DD. A couple band aids in the fanny pack for scraped knees. EXTRA film! Extra batteries for camera and camcorder. Small purell or individual handi-wipes. We also put a couple of the individual shout wipes for clothing stains in our fanny pack. ID for DD (I use key chain tags on our kids tennis shoes). Ziplocs - small and extra large to bring wet items home and to carrry cameras. We also put our sunscreeen in a ziploc - nothing worse than finding out you didn't close it tightly -yuck! We didn't really use the two way radios but I know some people like them. It was just one more thing to carry and we don't split up that much. Happy belated b-day!

gum(if you chew it) or mint for hunger in lines.Happy late b-day:)

Not sure if this is possible for you to get, but you'll need lots of bottled water to stay hydrated. Don't underestimate the FL sun! There is a Walmart right when you get off the FL Tpk at Osceola Pkwy. They sell 12 pks of 24 oz sport top bottles. It'll save you a ton of money. I always bring my own water bottle in the parks & refill from the water fountains. Security has no problem with it.

Make sure you carry some medication with you such as tylenol, antacids, dramamine (for nausea, motion sickness) etc...Nothing worse than being stuck in a park without any medicine. You don't want to have to go back to the room if someone gets a headache and the medicine is left in the toiletry kit.

I HIGHLY suggest a mid-day break for a swim/nap. In that case, you wouldn't need extra clothes. If you are staying all day (good luck), I would bring a bag to put in a locker with clothes, powder, deoderant, brush, makeup (for DW), clothes. You will look and feel like hell by afternoon.

I also carry meds in a small ziploc, wipes, dental gum

DO NOT bring: a wallet with a bunch a stuff you will not need at disney. A key ring loaded with keys that you will not need.

Our basic "take to the park" list is:
fanny packs with:
driver's license or id (ins. card and regis. locked in glove box of car)
med ins card/pres. drugs card
PARK PASS
room key
credit card
cash/change
cell phone (we have on cell # on our son at all times)
camera
autograph book and fat pen (we don't always take this)
list of PS#'s
wipes
dental gum
small ziploc with bandaids, tylenol, antacids, moleskin etc)-does no good if it's all back in the room . Just carry a few of each.
rain ponchos (usually in a backpack that we hang on DS's stroller)- if you have a stroller or plan to rent one, bring an extra large poncho to put over the stroller , as none of the stroller parking areas are covered!!! Oh yeah, we take a bright colored bandana to tie on our stroller. It makes it soooo much easier to find!!!!!
carry water and squeeze breeze ($5 at Target, $17 in the parks!) Just get one squeeze breeze and share it.
Sunscreen - stick kind
Lip balm

My Dh and I split this stuff up among our fanny packs.

Wear sunscreen, hat, watch, sunglasses, COMFORTABLE shoes.

Definitely use the antiperspirant on your feet. This is the best advice I've ever gotten. I used to always have blisters after the first day, even with comfy shoe. I also put it on my niece's feet last year. We tried it at home first to make sure she didn't have some sort of reaction to it.

Have a great trip!

Nativetxn already gave you wonderful footcare advice. I just wanted to re-emphasize the importance of taking care of your feet at WDW. Blisters could prove disasterous when you're walking so much.

Break in the new shoes the best you can before the trip. Wear them each day, starting with 1/2 hour the first day and adding 1/2 to 1 hour each day, depending on how comfy they are. Don't try to rush it though, because that can cause even more problems.

And take your old shoes to WDW with you as a back up pair.

Oh, and one more thing...have a magical time!!

Carrying Tylenol, antacids, etc in the fanny pack is a great idea. Just wanted to mention that if you're in the parks and need something like this that you didn't bring along, you can visit the first aid stations.

We were at Epcot in December, and my husband was coming down with a cold (ick!). It came on suddenly, he had felt fine that morning. He had such a bad sore throat, we were afraid we would have to leave the park. I was so worried, because we had tickets to Candlelight Processional that evening and had already paid for the meal.

We stopped by the first aid station to see what they could recommend for a sore throat. They were very nice and gave us enough Tylenol and throat lozenges to get through the day. I was prepared to pay what ever they asked for the medicine, DH was so miserable, but they didn't charge us anything!

The medicine eased up DH's discomfort enough that he was able to enjoy Candlelight Processional, although he couldn't eat much of his dinner. CP alone was worth the cost of the dinner, though!

I also highly recommend Zicam Nasal Spray or Cold Eeze lozenges, both have zinc which definitely supress cold symptoms if taken at the first sign of sniffles or sore throat. They don't cure but they do drastically lessen symptoms & duration. Follow directions on the package.

So many good suggestions...just one more.

Definately bring some dry clothes (locker or plastic bag them) for everyone not just the children. I always seem to prepare better for the children than I do for myself.

One trip I had extra dry clothes for DD but didn't think to bring any for myself. It rained, actually it poured, and that is when I decided to buy ponchos! (I always have them with me now) I had to run through torrential rain to take DD to the restroom, otherwise we would have stayed protected under cover. By then I was soaked and so was she.

I bought the ponchos and changed her, putting the poncho over her and draped it over the stroller to keep it dry also (didn't want a wet seat). I didn't get any wetter with the poncho on, but neither did I dry out. The sun just didn't come back out strong enough to dry my clothes.

I was actually okay until the sun went down and I wanted to stay for the parade. I was extremely uncomfortable. So I decided to just buy a shirt and changed in the restroom. Hadn't planned on buying a shirt, so could have saved that $$ if I had brought dry clothes for me too. I'm still working on taking just as good care of myself as I do my children.

Otherwise, I agree with all the other suggestions, especially about bringing a sample size amount of medications and taking care of your feet. And water-water-water.

Adding a P.S. to my own post, Zicam now comes in nasal swabs. I like them better than the spray. I came down with a cold over the weekend, so I am taking my own advise & it is helping a lot!
The Zicam swabs will now be on my official packing list!

Avon makes a combo sunscreen/bug repellent. We use it all the time, especially when we go camping.
