New to the Board and have a trip in early May for a week at WDW. Going with granddaughter who is 6 and it will be difficult not to be a full time photographer. I have two Nikon cameras, one a full frame D610 and a crop sensored D500. I am planning on bringing a Nikon 18-300mm as a walk around and either a 35mm 1.8 with the D500 or a 50mm 1.8 with the D610. My question is, which camera do you feel will be the best choice, full frame or crop sensor (both are very good in low light situations)?

Accompanying a six year old at WDW ? I think it would be difficult to be a part-time photographer in that situation. You can carry the full frame or crop and the 18-300 around (leave the rest at the motel) but for me a mirrorless camera and "pancake" style lens would be perfect for walking around all day - small and light and fits in a waist pack.

I ditched my dslr for a mirrorless during our 2013 visit. I didn't want to have to lug my heavy dslr around Disney.

I'll just point out that the 18-300 is wasting the d610 -- turns on the crop mode of the full frame camera, so you only use aps-c sized region of sensor, only get about 10mp of resolution.

On my last trip, I actually carried 2 bodies often. At times, the d750+45/1.8... along with the a6300 +10-18 for my wide shots. And that combo gave me everything I needed, but in my case, the second camera was pretty compact. No heavier than carrying a second lens.

In your case, I'd likely opt for the superior low light capacity and dynamic range of the d610. D500 is a great sports camera, but I can't see needing the 10fps at Disney.
