What does Your Trader Joes hide??

I had no clue! Interesting. I wonder what ours hides. I thought it would be a bear of some sort (i.e. Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs) but seeing above it was Curious George in one suburb. Hmmm...now that I think of it, it could be a Bulldog since that is the mascot of the school in the town it is in.

Do they just tell the cashier where they found it or do they bring it up to the cashier since I assume they hide it in different locations.

And how DID you find out about this? Then again...everything I ever needed to know, I found out about on the DIS. LOL!

We frequent the TJ's in Naperville and they hide a blue whale. Our 9 year old has been keeping an eye out for that critter since he was 3. lol There used to be signs near the entrance telling kids to look for it. I'm not sure if that sign is still there. But the kids just need to tell the cashier where they spied the blue whale in order to claim their lollipop.

Hmmmm .... I've been wanting to check out a Trader Joe's. What is it like? What does it stock?

I will have to check mine out and see if they hide something. Sounds fun!

.

Our Trader Joe's hides "Tiki Sven" and for the life of me I don't know what kind of creature it is, oh well it keeps the kids busy while I shop:):)

Never been to one, but I looked it up, and apparently there is one about 30 minutes away. I don't think I want to drive that far for groceries.

It's worth it. Bring a cooler and check it out. I go about 4 times a year and stock up on our favorites. They have good prices on stuff- like cheeses, nuts, olive oil, and some produce. But all of their prices are pretty good in general.

Lol, I wish I had seen this post before I picked up the stuffed animal with a lei on it and brought it to the customer service stand. :flower3:
I thought a child dropped it (in the chips, lol) and brought it up there. I was so embarrased when they told me it was to hide for children, and thank you anyway, and by the way, would I like a lollipop for finding it? :goodvibes

For the life of me I can't remember what animal it was, I guess because I was laughing at myself, but I know it had a lei.

:)

Ok, I had to go to Trader Joe's anyway, but I couldn't wait to ask what kind of animal they hide since I couldn't remember. It's a polar bear (with the lei I remember). I was at a loss why Columbus would have a polar bear. :goodvibes I asked and his name is PJ (Polar Joe) and he came to Trader Joe's when the Columbus Zoo got polar bears. Awww.
Then I was in the snack aisle and saw him! There was a mom with little ones behind me so I clued her in so they could find him and get a treat. Yep, they got lollipops. :)

Ours hides Jo-Jo the toucan for reasons I can't even begin to guess.
Trader Joe's Joe Joes are their version of Oreos. There is a picture of a toucan on the box. :)

I have a TJ's about 20 minutes from home, I go there monthly to stock up on things I prefer to buy from them. I've never seen anything hidden, anything found, nor have I seen any children take anything up to the guest service counter to trade for a sucker.....hmmmmm I'll have to ask next time I'm there.

The kids don't take the hidden object up to the register. They just need to mention to the cashier where they spotted him/her. :goodvibes

That's the same policy at our store here in Iowa, but we recently learned that at at some TJ's the kids do bring the toy to the register to claim their lollipop. We learned this when my nephew, who was visiting us with my sister-in-law, took Bacon, our local stuffed pig, up to the register and nearly started a riot with the other young children who thought he was stealing it! :rotfl2: Apparently at his store out in Virginia, the kids bring the toy to the front and then the finder also gets to re-hide it. It seems like each store gets some discretion on how they do the toy search. I think it's a fun game and makes it easier for parents to get the kids to go shopping without any complaining.

I stopped at TJ's in Portland, ME yesterday on my way north and remembered to ask what they hide. I was right... they hide a lobster AND a moose! Oooh, how I wish Bangor would get a TJ's (instead of another Super Walmart :sad2: )

I've been at TJs a couple times a week for about four years now, and had no idea. They do a pretty good job of hiding whatever I'm looking for though.
