What does Your Trader Joes hide??

Ours hides a pig named "Bacon", I assume because of the large role pigs play in the economy of Iowa. It's a big deal for our kids to go looking for Bacon, and between that and the samples, why we can always get them to eagerly go to Trader Joe's. The funny thing is that they usually now decline the lollipop given for finding him; they just enjoy the hunt!

When we first moved here, TJ's was not yet here, and it amazed us how much we missed it. Since it opened, less than a mile and a half from our home, we're there at least twice a week! Now that Whole Foods has also opened, our lives are complete...

It looks like peanut butter but tastes like a cookie (almond, maybe? Gingerbread?). My DD is totally addicted to it. I'm not a huge fan, but it's one of the most popular items in the store. The frozen chocolate banana slices (Gone Bananas) are also a favorite and sell out fast.

Howdy Neighbor!! :wave2:

Which is your TJs? Uptown or Far NE Heights?

I personally love the mandarin orange chicken, the fresh salads, many of their frozen food items, the dried fruits, crackers, I could go on. I will have to keep an eye out for the Lobo.

Ok i want to get the cookie butter. Has anyone ever been to the grand opening of a trader joes? Whats it like?

The cookie butter is fantastic! In fact, 99.5% of their food is fantastic, in my opinion. I'd say that 50% of our food comes from there, and it's all wonderful.

When the first (and only) TJ's opened in Iowa, it was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before for a store opening. It was chaos! It was fun chaos, and everybody was friendly and in a great mood, but I have never been in such a crowd. It was like leaving MK after Wishes on Christmas Day!

thanks to this thread, i dreamed about Trader Joe's last night. i dreamed we went to look for whatever animal they hide and found out our store was closing. thankfully, it was just a dream.

the cookie butter is good! :thumbsup2

I don't think it is any weirder than while considering a new job and move to a new city, putting the lack of TJ's on the con side of the list. Seriously, I kid you not. The lack of a TJ's in the possible new location is right under the 'my church isn't there' con. :lmao:

Please note if you find a real estate location that you think might work for TJ"s they have a place on their website that you can tell them the location and they will look into it.

We have the perfect spot next town over a shopping center where a grocery store went out....TJ;s would thrive b/c they like to be in the more upscale or yuppie type of places.

AS for our animal....we have Larry the Lobster b/c we are in New England. WE actually have a couple of Larrys in the one we go to.

Don't forget the sticker center at the front of the store where the kids can help themselves to stickers.

And even better in our house, they are VEGAN! Just made my daughters day.

Seriously? I have 5 boxes in the freezer and I've never even noticed. Excellent!!

You didn't quote me, but I think you're talking to me. Unless I'm crazy, which is possible. I like Uptown, but I suffer from RefusingtodrivepastPaseoitis. It's a chronic condition I hear.

It's not at all because it's really close to the Apple store, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and Anthropologie. Not at all.

I quoted the wrong person? Whoops...my bad. I always go to the one on Paseo. It apparently is closer to where I live in Vista Del Norte. Still a decent drive and convoluted since there is no real direct way for me to get there.

Ahhh, I come from the other direction. I started going to Uptown when it opened and I lived next to Osuna and Wyoming.

I had no idea. :scratchin Hmmm....If that is the case, we all need to request a TJ's near WDW!!! The day before any trip to the World, I always hit my local TJ's to load up on all our favorites that I pack in a cooler. Orlando is in serious need of a Trader Joe's. They can hide a Mickey :smickey: (because the world definitely needs more Hidden Mickeys ;))!!!

:lmao: Hi neighbor! :wave2: The funny thing is, the last time DD found it, it looked nothing like what someone would think would be a representative of the Big Chicken. More like an Eddie's Trick Shop chicken. ;)

LOL :lmao: That`s funny and no one else knows what you're talking about !
I might just have to find a better representation and give it to them !
BTW - I`m in East Cobb, Heritage Woods. How about you ?

LOL... I know, I thought that after I posted it but figured you would know! :lmao: East Cobb, too. Hampton Woods (behind Dickerson Middle school). When I read your response at first, I almost thought it said the same thing. I was like, wow, we really are neighbors! :rotfl2:

Never been to one, but I looked it up, and apparently there is one about 30 minutes away. I don't think I want to drive that far for groceries.

Our TJ's hides a lobster, and a crab. Personally, I think it would be a great idea if Trader's sent Sasquatch to the Cape Cod store for a little summer vacation....I know a few kiddies who would just love to find him hiding behind the cereal boxes.

ITA I do not think they go as far as FLA. It is always a big deal then they open one. I have sent the perfect spot in MA about a year ago but I know these things do not go up over night.

They do have one in Naples and one in Sarasota, so at least they are in Florida now. We just need them to open in Orlando. :thumbsup2

I have a TJ's about 20 minutes from home, I go there monthly to stock up on things I prefer to buy from them. I've never seen anything hidden, anything found, nor have I seen any children take anything up to the guest service counter to trade for a sucker.....hmmmmm I'll have to ask next time I'm there.
