What does your company give you for Xmas

DH works at a small manufacturing plant. Prior to the "economic downturn" they had a catered company party including entertainment at a local hall (enjoyed these parties). Everyone who attended would receive some type of small gift and employees who attended the party were entered in a drawing for prizes like air compressors, flat screen TVs, gift cards, entertainment systems and the company mini van (replaced each year). We always hoped for the van, but three years in a row it went to folks who had just bought new cars! :lmao: He also gets two days paid holiday, a ham (turkey at Thanksgiving), and a $200 bonus.
This year, they skipped the party and gave all employees an extra $50 bonus (due to the economy), and the ham. DH also got 5% of his '09 pay cut back Yeah! Only 10% more to go and we'll be back to our 2008 pay scale! (That's NOT sarcasm, I really didn't think he'd be getting any of his prior pay back!)

I'm a self-employed day care provider. Most of the families I provide care for got together and created an adorable snow man using three different sized wreaths (covered in berries) wired together and embellished with a hat and scarf. They added framed/magnetic pix of the kids (which can be removed later) and gift cards totalling $180. It was absolutely adorable and very appreciated. This is the second year in a row that I received a joint gift like this and I LOVE it. The Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candles were getting out of control. I could open a shop with my surplus. :rotfl:

Gifts from employers are not needed, but certainly appreciated at our house. All in all, we feel very blessed! :santa:

One year for the holidays, we all received frozen turkeys.

One of my co-workers and his wife became violently ill after eating it.

I threw mine out.

I work at a bank (who is making lots of money) i've been there for 20 years. In that time we used to get a nice ornament each year- a turkey, wine, fullly paid Christmas party ect. This year they are doing a 12 days of christmas thing and we get an orange, a muffin, a chocolate initial ect.

However out CLIENTS are amazing-every day it is a basket of apples, homemade treats, cheese trays, nuts, chocolates it goes on and on- we are all gaining weight- Christmas is wonderful because of our clients!

Im a little cooled down about this situation, so I feel I can post this now. I do want to say that I am thankful for my job and I do enjoy it, but....

I am a child care specialist at an adult education building. I was apprached this week about everyone else going to be gone for a meeting and wanted to know if I could come down and make all of the kids lunches or if I rather them order pizza for us. I had no problem making our lunches. Didnt think much of it, thought it was odd the lunch lady was gonna be gone, but o well.

So that day comes and my assistant asks what the meeting is going to be about, the person laughs and says what meeting? They go on to tell us that there is a staff Christmas lunch. Hmm, we were not invited, we werent even told about it, we were LIED to about this. The whole building went, even the janitor. We were very hurt over this situation. Yes, we had children to take care of, but we do have a sub on call every day who could of been there, they did have subs for the adult teachers. I think what upset me most was that I was lied to about this and told it was a meeting. And, my boss is a very good friend of mine, one who I would consider my closest friend. :(

So, I got nothing. Was thinking maybe we would get a gift card, maybe even a Christmas card would have been nice. But, no.

Everyone else got a all you can eat catered in meal that gave them three different buffet options, Mexican, Italian, and homestyle and a variety of desserts. There was also awards, prizes, and drawings.

Today was the last day before Christmas break, which I have to take off and do not get paid for, and not even a card was given to us. Guess I know where I stand.

Ouch. That had to hurt!
:sad1:

DH works for a large firm and they used to give him all sorts of things......a gift basket from Omaha Steaks, a gift basket from somewhere nice......this year......NOTHING!

I never got things as I worked for the schools.

I don't even care about DH getting nothing this year.....literally nothing.....no cost of living increase, no bonus, nothing. I am just really thankful he has a full time job.

Dawn

I get laundry to wash, a dishwasher to empty, meals to cook, kids to homeschool:rotfl2:......I'm a stay-at-home mom so no christmas bonus for me - but my company pays me in love! :thumbsup2

Wow! I hope you asked her why you were not included.

Nice! Same with my DH--he's a stay-at-home Dad and we've committed to homeschooling. I work 1 full day and 3 "half" days a week, so I'll help with the homeschooling. (Not laundry though!)

I am the owner of a small business. Currently I have 3 employees. I got them each a box of Godiva chocolates and a $50 gift card to a nice local restaurant. I hope that's considered a good gift.

we didn't get anything at all. we had a company Christmas party and all of us had to bring the food. the company didn't do anything at all......

I rec'd a $75 voucher for free food.
And, yesterday we had a holiday party at work. Stuffing, veggies, salad, carved turkey and filet. A buffet full of deserts. They handed out service awards for 5/10/20 and 30 year veterans.

I hope to keep my job. I've been there for 12 years and my husband lost his job last March. He's been a stay at home dad for our 9 and 2 year olds. It's been a struggle but the food money will come in handy. We'll fill up our freezer with meats.

I have been out of full time work for 1.5 years. I found some part time work last year and they had a Christmas party and gave us each a bottle of nice wine. Zippo this year. Business is down. I am prayerful for a full time job next year Christmas gift not required!!!!!

Dh and I both get nothing- he works at UPS and I work in a bank- back office not a branch. I've never worked in a place where we get anything.

I teach. The principal and vice principal make us lunch on the last day of teaching before vacation. Very sweet of them.

A nice bonus equal to about 2 weeks pay. Got it yesterday. Very happy :goodvibes:goodvibes

We have a nice Christmas party with a catered lunch. For gifts we usually get a gas card and cash. This year the gas card was for $100 and we got $250 in cash.

Plus, we got an extra special surprise this year. Back in April we all took a 3% paycut as part of cost cutting measures. Since the company weathered the economy well this past year we all got a bonus check paying us back the 3%. And we were told our salaries are being set back to the pre-paycut rate effective January 1. :)

Yes, I do work for a wonderful company!

ETA: We get Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve and News Years off with pay.

We have a dairy farm. We ship our milk to land-o-lakes. We get cheese, butter, and ornament, and a 5lb bag of nacho cheese goo.
