Changing resort reservation with a previous promo

Hello!

I have the cabins at Fort Wilderness booked for August under the previous Canadian room discount (says Q3 canadian on my reservation). Due to finances, we are needing to change resorts to Pop Century but there are no discounts offered for our time frame (august 20th)

Has anyone had success in a similar situation with calling in and having a cast member modify the reservation to a different resort while keeping an expired promo? I'm not even sure cast members can authorize such things. I was going to try and call next week.

Any experiences or insights welcome

Also, free dining is open for Disney Visa holders at the moment. I know that we don’t qualify, but it might open up to everyone next week. It looks like your date would qualify. It might be something to consider.

We've never done free dining but does that usually require park tickets? We are only doing 1 day MK and 3 nights.

You need to buy a minimum four day tickets, so yeah, this promotion is not for you.

I have successfully changed in the past but I have also been told ‘no’ other times. There are too many variables (offer, availability, dates, etc.) so my experiences in no way indicates how others’ experiences might be.

Nobody here can truly say how Disney will handle your unique situation.

To follow up, I called on the weekend to inquire about switching to CBR (which only showed preferred rooms at the time) and was told no discounts was available. That was fine, I figured we may just end up booking rack rate at Pop.

I was looking in Tuesday and saw a tonne of availability for Pop in all categories so I called again to ask about switching to Pop while keeping the discount. The nicest cast member was able to help me out and change us to Pop for a great price. Was only able to do so for a standard but we are healthy and able to do the walking often required of standard.

Fastforward to today with the new promos that have dropped. The price the CM changed us to was still almost $80 less over the total of 3 days than what I could book today so I'm glad I followed up on Tuesday. I did send an email yesterday to let them know the cast members name and that I really appreciated her help.
