I keep hearing all of these people saying "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us."

No actually you did cross the border.

I don't even understand the argument that they are trying to make. Can someone please elaborate.

Another one:

Heleodoro Carillo, 14, an eighth grader at a Las Vegas middle school said he joined the protest after arriving at school "so we can take off the law."

"They want to put the law at the border so Mexicans can't cross," Carillo said.

----

Well if it is illegal for them to cross, and they are crossing, wouldn't logic dictate that you put the law there?

wow...i have no clue...but i think thats funny...even if it shouldnt be...but maybe thats just because i find things that people say funny.

i with you on wishing someone will clue us in!

Heleodoro is obviously a product of the US education system.

It means that they think that southwestern parts of California and New Mexico were once part of Mexico and was taken away from them.

:rotfl: What in the world do past borders have to do with current ones. All of the world's borders have changed, that doesn't mean we can live by the laws of hundreds of years ago.

Isn't that one of the beliefs of MEChA?

They're just saying that Mexicans were there first.

Texas was part of Mexico too. Of course, Texas became an independent nation before joining the U.S. so they really couldn't blame the feds for that.

Again, what do previous borders mean?

Should Germans demand rights of French citizens since they once controlled the land that is now France?

The borders never crossed anyone who is alive today!

Get over it and quit waving the Mexican flag if you want American rights.

Just a wild guess, it means Mexicans were there first.

Again borders change with wars, crusades, etc. You can't expect to receive the rights of a nation just because "your people" previously owned certain land.

Don't forget about Arizona apparently we were once part of Mexico too! Blah. I didn't think the borders in the past actually matter. What is in place now is the current borders and yes you crossed them illegally.

The vast majority of Mexicans are not majority native descent anyway. Most of them are of Spanish descent, or mixed Amerindian/Spanish. Only about 20% of Mexicans are of native Mexican descent. Therefore you can say the ones protesting are the ones who first violated Mexican land.

They want to claim what once belonged to their gov/country, but yet they are trying so hard to leave it (gov/country) :scratchin

About the signs.......There are Italian protesters in front of our base here. They lost their jobs because they are no longer needed....happens everywhere in the US, why should our bases be any different. Now, they protest to get their jobs back, but their signs are all in Italian. Wouldn't it make more sense to just make the signs in English if you want your English speaking former employers to hire you back?

Actually the Native Americans were there first. Maybe they should be protesting.

That's what "Mexican" means - native people crossed with conquistadors. This seems to be in response to people saying Mexicans are invading our country & threatening our culture.

So all of you in the Louisiana Territory prepare for the French invasion!!!! Okay, we bought that not invaded it, but still. That whole argument is just silly. Exactly how far back do we have to go in Europe to decide who really should own the land?
