what does the character tea consist of??

it says its cakes and drinks, but will there be sandwhiches, but i suppose if offered the kids will be happy with the sweet stuff, just wondering as i am hoping it will make us do for our dinner.if we have a big lunch,

Don't do a big lunch before, because then you won't be hungry anymore to enjoy your character tea. I mean, they charge a rather large amount of money for the character meals, you can at least try to eat your money's worth

I would get big breakfast, a snack as lunch, then a big tea, and then a light dinner. But that's just me, I like to think kind of economical about these things... especially since I don't want to spend money on food I don't eat, I can just as well use that money for some souvenirs!

WE(DH) and I shared a croque monsieur on main street about an hour before our tea. DD (3) only ate all the sweet things.

There were only rolls (as savoury items) when we went in Sep.

What about the character dinners (evening) guys? We have one booked at Cafe Mickey - the brochure briefly mentions a menu choice and a little gift for the children - can anyone elaborate?

It is tempting! It is good food... and you get character pictures. I mean, what does one want more??

The gift is some paper glasses. The menu is a colouring one with games on it and that comes with pencil crayons. The children's drink comes in a plastic cup with a bendy straw and lid and the CM let my Daughter keep it. Also on are 1st visit she got a Donald Duck figure, however did she not get a figure on the visits we had at Christmas.. maybe they ran out of them as it was very busy.

If you order the kid ice cream it comes with a winne the pooh figure. we have been to cafe mickey three times and so far she's got eeyore, roo, and lumpy.

The Children's Menu is the usual kid stuff however a good range... My daughter always had mickey pizza...

When we went to Cafe Mickey on our last trip the childrens gift was a Mickey Mouse coloring pencil and stencil set. My younger DDs ate Chip and Dale's fish and chips which were very nice and then they were invited to help themselves to a special childrens all-you-can-eat dessert buffet which I would have also have liked to have eaten from!
My eldest DD was also given the souvenir plastic cup which was nice seeing as she eats from the adult menu.

Thalys to Marne, dinner at Cafe Mickey, picture with Mickey, and train back to Brussels... (too bad there isn't one that late at night, or I might even do it! EUR +/- 90 for train + EUR 34 for dinner + some EURs for drinks + lots of EURs on souvenirs out of DTD... maybe not...)

Thank you Wideeyes and Elaine. It costs quite a lot but really does sound like you get your monies worth - I am really excited about this meal now (my DS's will LOVE it)

We loved it there. It was really busy the night we went, luckily we had reservations because they were sending people who didn't away and telling them not to come back for at least two hours! However, we didn't feel that we were rushed at all, it was all very relaxed and the characters made plenty of time for everybody, adults and children alike.
I agree that it is expensive but the food was superb and the portions were huge! Shame we don't have a "full-up" smiley!

Elaine - how did you book your meal. I booked through the brochure but no time was specified (just 6.30-11.00). Do I still need to book an eating time with them? I am worried they may turn me away because it is too busy!!! Especially after hearing about all the yummy food!

I booked on telephone number 00 331 60 30 40 50. You can book meals up to 60 days in advance, except for Rainforest Cafe and Annettes.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what happens when you book a meal through the brochure. Can anyone else help?

We booked our Character tea through the brochure and when we arrived we were given a voucher giving the date of the booking which we took to guest services who then booked us in for the time of our choice that day. We then took the voucher with us to our tea as it was our prepayment slip.
