What does real 3D mean?

I don't care about the technology. I just want to know if it's going to make me carsick. The old 3D movies make me woozy (I have vertigo.) I'd really love to see Jurassic Park again. I know I can't tolerate IMAX, but do you think I might be able to go with real 3D? I would hate to waste my money if I'm just going to be barfing in the bathroom.

I saw Jurassic Park in 3D, not IMAX, on Friday. The 3D was not nearly as immersive as other 3D movies i've seen - like Avatar or the latest Star Trek, which I saw in IMAX. There was just a little more depth to certain scenes, like when they're in the tree with the Brachiosaurus.

I saw Jurassic Park last night - for the first time. I did not find the 3D to be that impressive at all. I'm thinking you would be fine w/this 3D film.

This sums it up perfectly.

I have the same problem as you, Minky. Always get sick when too much 3D is going on. With Jurassic Park this weekend, nothing popped out at all, there wasn't "too much", it just added more depth as quoted above. I think you should be okay, Minky. :)

Excelente~! Our anniversary is Thursday, 32 years and counting.:cool1: Jurassic Park, here we come!

This movie was not made with 3D in mind so I can't imagine it's all that great. I might go see it, but only to see it on the big screen again.

It is a brand of 3D, there are the following:
RealD (Some times called Disney-3D as well as a few variants)
IMAX-3D
3D

I find that RealD is the one that causes me the fewest issues. It is easy to tell the difference, RealD is the one that gives you the 3-D glasses that you can keep or throw away (they are smilar to the ones used in the parks, but not on Star Tours, just modified a little). The other methods have reusable glasses and tend to cause more issues, especially with motion sickness, which is why I was surprised to see that they didn't use RealD on Star Tours and use glasses similar to those used in the 3-D films in the parks, just modified for RealD.

Also, I am sure this is obvious, but do not get a D-Box seat at a 3D movie if motion sickness is an issue for you (mine is headaches from that long of a 3D film).

Saw it today with my DS, it was so much fun seeing it in the movies again. :)

I call remakes of non 3D movies into 3D, fake 3D
They have to simulate 3D if it wasn't filmed in 3D to start with. It doesn't even work for me at all. Only real 3D works for my vision.
