What does one do with their laptops/ipads when checking in?

Say you take the Magical Express from the airport and get to your resort and your room is not ready yet. I know there will take your suitcases and hold them for you, but what about your laptop/Pads, etc. that you may have in your carryon?

Do you need to take these items with you to the Parks if your room is not ready or would they be safe leaving with a CM at the front desk, if that is even possible.

Thanks

They have a locked area within the luggage storage room for valuables. Just let them know when you check the bags with Bell Services that the bags containing those items need to be locked up.

I've never asked for special handling of my laptop or iPad, typically they are both packed inside my luggage which goes into regular luggage storage. But maybe I should look into that..... :scratchin

Never knew that, thanks!

My wife asked me last night and we never even thought of what we would do with the two laptops and two iPads that we would be using on the flight down on our carryons, not the luggae with our clothes in them. She recommended that if worst came to worst I carry them into the Park with my backpack the first day, I would much rather leave them home if that were the case for fear of all 4 being damaged, lost or stolen.

Both time, the Bell Services people have noticed my laptop case and immediately marked it separate on the tag and had it locked up. I would hate to have to carry it around and the receipt does say what it is for when you claim it.

We always leave our computers/ipads with bell services. We've never had an issue. They mark it separately so they know there are electronics in there.

We each have a TSA approved lock that we put on our carryons before giving them them to bell services. Use the same ones to lock them up in the room. Since hearing about thefts of items in the "code" based safes... we don't use the in room safes anymore

We usually drive now, but the last time we flew, we left the laptop with luggage services. DH told them it was in there and they locked it up.

My flight arrival in Orlando always was close to check in at the resorts. I've always kept my laptop and video camera with me until the room was ready. I'm a little too paranoid passing them off. I need them for work and it would be a disaster losing them.

My iPad stays in my backpack, which stays with me. I've taken it to the parks on check-in and check-out days.

Great topic, I'd like to bring my laptop just to upload my pictures, I'd be devastated if I lost them

Be CERTAIN that your laptop/iPad/etc. is counted in the number of pieces of luggage that they are holding for you. We learned this lesson the hard way when our laptop was stolen a few years ago at the Contemporary while being held. We no longer let bell services hold any valuables.

Most resorts also have safety deposit boxes that are very secure. Ask the front desk, they are separate from bell services.

We don't bring brand-new computers on trips. We have an 3-year-old laptop that works fine and an "antique" ipad 1.0 (thanks a lot apple for all the new models) that is now part of the travel kit.

Traveling is hard on computers, plus there is the risk of theft, so if you are worried about bringing it, i'd just leave it at home.
