What does it feel like to get old?

I forget what I went to the pantry or fridge for- ALOT... I also couldn't find my mask this morning-i was wearing it.

I put on two pairs of underwear after getting out of the tub (I had a pair on then said to myself "dang I forgot to get underwear", DH brought me a pair and as i was putting them on he said- "you know you have a pair on right?" He said he wasnt going to say anything at first because he thought it was a "lady" thing. lol

Ha... My T shirt saying is "The glass is not half full or half empty. It's broken." Does that make me a pessimist?

My brother had a t-shirt that said “...an engineer sees the glass as twice the size as needed for the job intended”.

Years ago I was trying to read the stamped model and serial numbers on a transmitter's data plate when the guy I was working with hands me his reading glasses, "Here try these!"

I laughed at him, "It's the stamped numbers, but just to make you happy I'll put them on.... HOLY MOLY THE NUMBERS ARE SO CLEAR!!!!"

Stopped on the way home from work. A pair in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, my office, on the production floor at a piece of equipment, in the control room, in the control room for another piece of equipment, in the QC lab, and a pair in the car.

Nope, never wore 2 pair of underwear, but I've gotten up on a Saturday, ate breakfast, messed around waiting for the yard to dry up. Went out, opened shed, pulled mower out, filled with gas. Gave it 1 pull on the pull rope and dang, I'm still just in my underwear!!!

I am 47 and recently I am freaking out as when I see people from High School on FB, they all look so old now.. and then I got dang.. does that mean I look different too? I notice by a few there was a big change on how they look from 40 to now.

Worse for me is as I get older, many I love my mom etc.. are getting really old and that scares me.

We watched Jane Goodall The Hope last week and she is very inspiring where aging is concerned. Keep trying to challenge ourselves physically and mentality.

I really don’t feel old. I’ll be 55 next month and I can still run, do a cartwheel, and do a split. For whatever reason, I don’t need reading glasses which is great.

I always challenge myself mentally. I’ve been cyber schooling my kids for 9 years and the youngest is 13, so that probably helps, too.

The eyesight thing - yeah. I started needing glasses when reading and working in front of a computer @ 50. I had my 2nd back surgery @ 51 (now almost 53). When I learned to surf @ 18 I thought it was the hardest thing I'd ever done. Nope. Re-learning to surf after a 2nd back surgery @ 52 is WAY harder, plus I don't have the free time I did then. It's getting there - if I had a solid couple of weeks to be out in the water I would have done it by now.

I am probably in better shape at 49 than I was 39. I know I weigh a lot less and exercise at least 5 days a week. I can tell my vision isn't what it used to be though. If I would just commit to fulltime glasses wearing and have bifocals it would probably be easier. For now I look over, through and under my glasses and usually wear them on top of my head.

I’m turning 50 this year and it sucks!!! I can’t get over how my body does not do what my mind wants it to!!

I'm only 44 but my vision is going, my hearing isn't so great. I'm losing muscle.

Just turned 54--- and I feel better now than I did at 44 (with the exception of remote schooling, which is killing me !!)

Single dad--- kids are 14 and 10, and they keep me young--- well, that, and around 25 vitamins/supplements a day !!!

I will say that my vision IS definitely worse !

Lift weights, walk every day, eat healthy. This will help you stay off meds. The meds will age you fast.

I must say, that at seventy, I don’t feel old & certainly don’t look like my grandmother looked at the same age! I still drive from Texas to DW (& Colorado) by myself several times a year, I babysit my very young grandchildren every week & have several social groups that meet weekly. I have friends of all ages & basically forget that I’m supposed to be “old”!

OK... I can buy the pantry/fridge story. I've put my car keys in the fridge. But I'm calling shenanigans on underwear. Even I know when I'm wearing underwear

I turn 47 in a few months. I have noticed some slight changes.

My back will hurt after strenuous activity more than before.
If given the chance, I could take a quick catnap everyday - even with a full nights sleep.
If I am wearing contacts, I have to do the pull away to read up close.

I am in perimenopause. Oh the fun! I am so annoying at times I can't stand myself, night sweats are real and they are miserable, and it is like I am a teenager again with breakouts. Good times. Good times.

@mi*vida*loca mentioned, alcohol and recovery is slippery slope. One too many glasses of wine (and by that I mean more than 2 small glasses) and the headaches begin. Advil definitely helps, but is the miracle cure-all it once was.

I can't see myself as a grandma yet. Albeit my kid is only 13 so it comes to no surprise. But the fact that I could be a grandma is what is so shocking. No way, I am way too young.

Oooh. The contact thing hurts. I've worn them for 30 years. I sleep with them in. But, have you noticed they've gotten flimsy? I should mention I've developed an astigmatism.

I've become crotchety.

She'll make it. And I'll bet you 25 cents she'll make it to 101. Believe me, the human body regenerates remarkably. I'm living proof.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I am on here a lot complaining, but I've been so fortunate that my body fights me . Your grandmother will be ok.
