What does Disney consider a costume?

Uh oh...these are full-length capes! I wonder if I can cut them off?? That's NOT something I want to do this close to our trip...or at all, ha ha! I already had to cut slits in the side seams so we could keep them up above our feet.View attachment 918347
I read the long capes were not allowed because they were a hazard on the rides. Just put them in a back pack when entering and make sure to have them put away before.

Oh cool!! Where did you find the ornament? I love that idea!
I got it on Etsy. It's so cute. You choose the hair styles etc and they put your names on it, too :)

(I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it here.)

We are going Sun the 15th at 7:15!

My sister wants us to wear tiaras. Yeah, not costumey at all, right?! Everyone who knows me calls me the tiara girl because I wear one anytime I can get away with it, LOL. I even have it on in my Driver's License picture, which I will post but I no longer wear glasses and I no longer have brown hair :)View attachment 918400
Best license photo ever.

I was JUST going to suggest tiara's when I saw this. I've seen them at WM. DH tries to get me to buy one every year at Germany at EPCOT! Unless you can borrow one from a royal, they are all fake, right?

:tink:

At Disneyland, an outfit is generally considered a costume if it closely resembles a full character ensemble or if it could be mistaken for what a Cast Member would wear.

Your snowflake dresses with capes sound more festive, as long as they don’t replicate a specific character (like Elsa from Frozen), you should be fine. Themed or dressy outfits that aren’t exact replicas of a character are typically allowed. The cape is a nice touch and should be okay as long as it doesn’t create the illusion of being a costume or possibly cause a tripping hazard.

If you’re still not sure, I would check with Guest Services ahead of time for clarification. Either way, it sounds like you’ll look amazing for your dining experience and photos with Santa. And, the weather looks great. Enjoy your trip to the Grand Californian Hotel and Fantasmic!

Welcome to the DIS @911travler. The issue with the cape is that it is floor length and could be a tripping hazard. @DizMe came up with the perfect solution of waiting to put on the cape until they are seated at the RBT.

Thank you! 👋🏼 As a newbie I typed up my reply but didn't hit post until after more discussion & pictures. Doh. 😬 Those capes are gorgeous!

You guys will look darling. We saw people in all kinds of creative festive gear a couple weeks ago. Nobody seems to mind.
