What does a grown-up DO with the characters??

Some friends of ours went to Disney a couple weeks ago WITH their kids and all of their character pictures are of Dad and the character. The kids thought the whole character thing was lame, but Dad got into it. They have some great picts of him and the characters.

Jump right in and get a hug - my DD and DS just look at me like I am crazy when I see a character - I yell to them "Look Look there is Mickey" - I guess I get so excited I let everyone around me know!!! lol

My wife and I took many trips without any children up through our mid-30's and wehad lots of fun with the characters and they ddn't seem tmind a bit. even now I look for Jiminy every trip only saw him once from a distance in over 33 trips. We are over 40 and I think my wife likes to get her pic with Tigger more than my sone does.

And last year, I stood in lone to get my pic with Mrs. Incredible. Yea, the child went first to get his pic with all three, but I kicked the men out to have a photo session with her alone. Then Mr. I and FroZone talked it over and ambushed my wife for their own. The characters are great with all ages from new borns to the elderly.

We book a character dinner every time we go - it is just my husband and me. I love Winnie the Pooh and Friends (I know, that was hard to guess). They interact great. I also wait in line to see the characters and get pictures. To me, it is part of the magic.

OMG!!!! I just LOVE this thread!!!! :D

These stories just help inspire me to cut loose a little with the Characters!

On our one trip to Epcot, years ago, Just DH and I, before DS... We saw Pooh... I was just wanting to maybe snap a picture of him for my picture book, to show nieces and nephews... Pooh's handler would have NOTHING of it!!! He got Pooh to step over from the kids, and the next thing I know I was getting a hug and a kiss from pooh!!! (with a great snapshot too....)

You know, on our Disney Cruise, Snow White came up to our table to meet DS... I guess we were all so 'time conscience' and 'stiff', that we got the obligatory picture with Snow White standing behind DS in his chair (her hands on his shoulder and all....) Now, I wish I had had DS get up and do a little 'Snow White and the dwarf dance' with her!!!!

So, I say, don't worry!!! I don't want to miss any more opportunities to enjoy the MAGIC!!!! Espcially on DS first trip to the Magic Kingdom this May!

My sister (20) and I (27) had so much fun with the characters on our Christmas trip. We got our picture made with every one we saw. At the beginning of the trip we were a little shy about what to say, but we were having a blast by the time we left. We went to the breakfast at Cindy's and we had a conversation with Aurora about how hard it is to find good faries to make your dresses. Cruella refused to be in a picture with my sister because she was so "homely" - my sis is drop dead gorgeous and Cruella was acting all jealous and diva-like. It was hilarious! Then, at Mickey's Toon Town Fair after we had our picture made with Mickey he tried to walk off with us. It was so funny - he actually led us out the back to the exit. His assistants were calling, "No Mickey, come back. What would Minnie say if she knew about this?" He covered up his eyes and acted embarrassed and was just sooooo adorable! He kept kissing our hands and waving to us as we left - especially DSis! :earboy2: We had a great time with all the characters. It was our favorite part of the trip!

Oh - Alice and the Mad Hatter were wonderful also!

I will never forget talking with Belle as she was sitting all alone at the baby station near Crystal Palace...she looked so bored, and we were looking for bandaids so we started to chat. I started speaking French to her (I wanted to give it a test to see if she could speak beyond the two words she uttered)...she was completely composed and gave a very logical reason why she speaks English, not French. It was pretty funny, she was in character the entire time...

The only non-response I had was with Pluto (my favorite character from when I was little), he was less than enthusiastic...but that was only once in my many , many encounters!

We always do a character breakfast too, every trip!

Notice my ID? And I'm 47 years old! :earsgirl:

DH and DD left the table to refill their plates when we were at the Cape May Character breakfast. I remained at the table alone. Just before I stirred my coffee, I was almost startled when someone came from behind and hugged me. :earseek: It was 'Chip.' I loved it! About that time, DH and DD returned to the table. We all had a good laugh. It made my day!

Well Disney iss for kids of all ages. And they mean it. My Dh took me for my 40th birthday. Got a birthdya button and wore it proudly at MK. Donald Duck came by in the parade and saw it was my birthday and dance with me. Mary Pooins wished me happy birthday. Cinderalla called me a princess. i am just a big kid at heart when I am at Disney i forget how old I am. I love meeting the characters and we always make sure we go to a character dinner. Don't worry just enjoy.

I'm just wondering, who in the world is Mary Pooins?? Is she related to Winnie The Poo"h"?? Hehehe!!! Thanks for that laugh, I needed that!

I was sooo excited to see Lilo and Stitch!!!! I was soo excited infact that I elbowed poor Lilo in the face and stepped on Stitch's foot when I hugged them. I told my husband I would wait all day to see them. I was first in line. It made my day. I hope I didn't hurt them. lol

Oh I had a great time with the characters this year!! I went up with the kids to meet Lilo and Stitch and got a little excited and blurted out that Stitch was my favorite. Stitch gave me a huge kiss and hug and Lilo put her hands on her hips and acted upset. I got a little embarrassed and didn't know what to say, I stumbled over my words. Afterward I told Stitch I still liked him even though he was a bit naughty and saw what he did to the Castle. He hung his head low and put his hand over his eyes.

I loved every second of it.

We also went to Chef Mickeys for breakfast and after the kids were done taking pictures with Minnie, hubby ushered them to their seats and gave Minnie a big hug! She posed as if she was giving hubby a BIG kiss on the cheek as he hugged her. It is one of the best pictures I have of that trip. :)

Before I had kids and after I had kids I still act the same around the characters and that is like this :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc . I get so excited. I want to talk to them and have my picture taken with them, and I feel like I am 10 years old.

Just have fun when you go and if you act like your 10 (like me) who cares. Just have fun!!!!! :cheer2:

The charactors have always been great as I'm usually a solo. I had read somewhere about scratching Pluto behind his ear and didn't think he would do the foot thing for an adult--He did.
When I've dined at a Charactor dinner (CP or LTT), one charactor has always interacted with me as a solo adult more than the others--Eyeore usually at CP and it's been Chip at LTT--Even stealing my food at LTT.

Don't worry about being self concious. DH and I had a great time visiting each character and taking their pictures with them. Just enjoy the magic!

I do it all the time. I get autographs and photos, and DH and I have no children.
I do character meals too!

Don't be self conscious! If you pay your admission and wait in line patiently, I don't see a problem. Chances are....you've been a fan longer than the small kiddies. :)

BTW....does anyone else think Dale is a bit of a flirt?

I am alot older than you, and I love all the characters. I still get exited when I see them, you never outgrow it, it is an uncurable disease.:teeth:

I give them all hugs and get pics.

Hi,
Go and have fun with it. My sister and I went in December and we are both in our twenties, we did a bunch of character meals. I thought I would feel funny talking to the characters, as I am usually shy, and thought it would be embarrasing. But once the characters came, I felt like a little kid again. Eeyore liked my shirt because he was on it and pointed to my sister and was like where's yours?. Belle even said, it's nice to see the big kids having fun. Also, Goofy was funny, we were at Liberty Tree Tavern, and we were in the corner and he came up next to me. He surprised and I said you scared me, and he gestured, like no, not me. Have fun on your trip.

Hello I went to Disney World for the 5th time last May with my 20 year old cousin, 25 year old brother, (I'm 23), and my two grown-up kid parents. We went to 1900 Park Fair for breakfast one morning and had a good time. The Alice and Wonderland characters go around and visit every table and we had some pretty funny conversations with the Mad Hatter. Of course after that big breakfast buffet I was ready to go back to bed! We also always go to the Crystal Palace but if you go at a popular eating time be prepared for a noisy meal! It's a great time with the Winnie the Pooh characters and a lot of kids. Characters can also be great for adults because they can pick on one member of your family or group members and everyone gets a kick out of it

uhhhh in 17 days...yup...hubby and i are LEAVING THE KIDS AT HOME...with my mom...and going to disney...BY OURSELVES....!! OH YEA!!! we cant wait......you see....i will be just a month shy of 32 and i am the biggest kid around....we have our ps for chef mickeys....our children arent mad about this cause we just went in december and we are going again in october....the characters are great with everyone!!!

My friend and I went in December without the kids. We had a blast with the characters. When pooh and the gang came around at cp we took photos with each character and interacted. We even went to that one place at the barn in MK and stood in line to take photos with Tigger. At the time I didn't know what it was so we just stood in line. I get soooo giddy. I love the characters, but there were these two Japanese tourists who absolutely went crazy over Tiger/Pooh/Eeyore. I mean crazy, at one point one of the cm's had to tell them to take it easy on the characters. They were trying to unzip the costumes, taking their tales and pulling them up, rolling on the floor, getting on their hands and knees...They were also taking an inordinate amount of time with them. Yeah, being at disneyworld does bring the kid out in all of us, but I wish they had remembered their manners and that there were actually real kids waiting for the characters.
