What does a grown-up DO with the characters??

Cindibelle - the picture of the golden (looks like a golden??)in the mouse ears made me laugh as much as some of the stories on the thread - I'll have to do that with mine!!!

Well, even if you do act "wacky" - I think that's great. I love to act that way after having to act like a "grown up" all the time - it gets tiring - doesn't it? The BIG plus factor is that most likely you'll never see ANY of these people again, well maybe during that specific day, but go on and do your dancing & screaming - it's YOUR vacation and you can behave as you wish (within reason, of course.)

My ex-husband is a freelance cameraman and was working on Wheel of Fortune one year when it came to MGM (about 15 yrs. ago.) I was about 7 1/2 months pregnant and went over for the day to see a taping of the show (we lived in Clearwater.) We went to the set early and I "pretended" I was Vanna over by the letters (what a hoot that was) and then pretended I was a contestant, etc. Only when getting ready to leave did we notice that people were taking a tour and could see us!! I did get noticed throughout the rest of that day and my husband got into quite a bit of trouble that I remember. But it's a funny memory now - he was hopping mad at me after it happened (but it was HIS idea, I just went along, story of our marriage, hence the divorce.)

Have a blast on your trip hobnobbing w/the bigwigs!!!!

DH and I are DINKS and I'm in my mid-40's. We do at least on character meal per trip and the characters come and play with us just like the kids. We take pictures and have fun too. Go - enjoy!

This is what the Castmembers told us ( we are a couple both in our 40's) Everyone is a kid and all the girls are princesses! So, there ya go. :D
We thought that the Characters interacted with us as if we were kids LOL
We had great experiences at Character meals as well as standing in line to have our picture taken with a Character. I did not see any difference in how the children were treated and how the adults were treated. Go have some fun!!!!!!

I ran towards Cinderella & Prince Charming (while screaming "Cinderella! Cinderella!"), cut everybody in line, kneeled, grab her right hand and asked "Cinderella, my dear, will you marry me?" Prince Charming burst out laughing and I walked away calmly right after I popped the question.

Another time, I waited in line for Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear, once it was my turn I held their hands and took them away with me. Their "handler" played along and told the rest of the people lining up, "sorry, it looks like Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear have been kidnapped by that guy with the long hair".

Ahhhhh, good times.

When I went to Disney for Christmas a while ago, my mom, dad, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and I all went to the breakfast at the WL, with Pocohontas and Friends I believe it's called, I'm not sure. Anyway, the CM who played John Smith was excellent, especially with my grandma and great-grandma. It was funny to see. The characters are excellent, they interact with everyone.

This past summer when I was at Disney, my sister and I were walking to go on Pirates and I felt this hand on my shoulder and I jumped and almost screamed - it was Jafar! He escourted me the whole way to Pirates and did that little "call me" thing with his hand, it was hilarious! I love seeing the characters, and my best memory is seeing Sleeping Beauty, my all-time favorite princess. :)

It's always great when I see parents interacting with the characters, and I can't wait to do that when I have kids and take them to Disney!

I'm going solo and just made a PS for 1900 Park Fare dinner. Why not have the fun of experiencing as much as you can--It's Walt Disney World!!!

I made a total fool of myself when I met Mary Poppins and I am much older than 30. She was standing in one of the shops in England. My sister and I were just browsing when we came upon her. I screaming Oh it's Mary Poppins!! I can't believe it's Mary Poppins!!" My sister, who isn't into characters, just shook her head and walked away from me. Luckily the CM who was with Mary took my picture and I spent a lovely few minutes speaking with her. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day. Don't be afraid to show your enthusiasm. I think those who do characters understand that they are representing something from childhood.

Guilty pleasures. I love meeting the characters almost or even more so than my 4 year old dd. Sometimes I even embarrass my husband but he says I embarrass you sometimes so go ahead and embarrass me. I going to get an autograph book for me for August for all my pictures and signatures.

DH and I are going to WDW 3/12-3/17, POFQ; me for the first time, and him for the second. We don't have any kids; who needs them when we're such big kids ourselves?? :jester:

But I'm a little self-conscious about the characters! I mean, will Cindy think I'm weird when I scream, clap my hands, and do the "happy hop" when I see her? I am, after all, will be 3 wks shy of 30! And will Mary Poppins be offended (least of all my DH) when I ask Bert to marry me?

We've booked the character bkfst at 1900 PF and people say to not be afraid to do it, even if you don't have kids. Do the characters interact well with adults? What should I expect? Do I just have to NOT be shy??

BTW, I'll be thinking of a friend of mine the whole time: He is a WICKEDLY funny person that can make you pee with laughing so hard but the ONE thing that cracks HIM up is people dressed up like animals fighting. Go figure. One year for his b-day, a couple of us dressed up in suits and fought for him!!!

My fiance & I are adults. We love to take pics with the characters & most of the time we talk w/ them. We don't have any kids & when ever we go to Disney we become kids at heart. By the way I'm almost 30  myself. So don't feel akward at all!!!

I'm a fair bit older than 30 and in the last 4 years since i've been able to realise my dream and travel to Disney, i've bounced with Tigger, been chased by Stitch had my bag stolen by Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee, played tick tock with Captain Hook and had Peter Pan ask me to pose like Wendy, amongst many other fun character interactions. Enjoy Yourself

I LOVE the characters.....I really got to enjoy them myself this year, due to DS9 for the first time would go see them.

I even made DS23 and BF22ofDS pose for pics with them....

Go for it, they are there for everyone.

Of course, I would never knock a kid out of meeting one.

The characters love interacting with adults and please do not feel shy about doing so! I felt a bit shy on my last trip with my bf but he made sure to get tons of pictures with every character we saw. The shyness completely fell away when I spotted Lilo and Stitch in AK. I grabbed my bf's arm and started screaming "It's Lilo!!!!" over and over again. Then I ran to the line like a 5 y.o. (I am 28 btw) and stood there, patiently waiting my turn to meet my Lilo. When I got up there, I was actually nervous - this is Lilo we are talking about! I guess I felt like normal people do when they meet the president. The three of us struck a surfer pose and that picture is now my desktop. :cool1:

we went for Marathon weekend and DH was more excited about the characters than dd. DH would spot them before the kids did. He told Mickey in the Judges tent that he was going to smoke him in the Marathon and Mickey put his hands over his mouth shook his head and then shook his finger at him. Most all the other characters would looked shocked with DH walked up for his picture because he is tall - 6'4". Chicken Little was standing on his tiptoes for the picture. I got a few pictures with characters. Minne got ahold of FIL and was kissing all over him and FIL was blushing. She kept on and he started laughing.

I think MY favorite character was Baloo and King Louie. They mussed up my dd hair and she giggled. When it was my turn, King Louie put his hand over my eyes for our picture. What fun we had. CindyML

I was really surprised on my last trip how much my DH got into the characters. He is not a Disney guy and only goes to make me happy. I made an ADR for Cape May on our last day and he got really into it. He thinks that his picture with goofy turned out really well. At WDW you never know what can happen!

Oh yeah, we saw Cinderella and she saw my ring and asked if my DH was my prince charming. She was truly wonderful. Dh went along and praised me.

Don't worry about it. I'm 20 years old and I LOVE the characters! I am always screaming, running up to them, hugging them, you name it. Go right ahead and have fun with them.

When I met Cinderella and the others at CRT last week basically they all just said hi and then asked if I wanted a picture. I really tried to interact with them but they had very short replies and seemed like they just wanted to get the picture done and move on. It made me feel really silly for even going there. I liked meeting the characters in actual full-body costumes better, like Stitch, Chip, and Tigger. It was easier to not feel silly around them since you can't tell that there's a real person inside.

I don't know about everyone else but last year I was lucky enough to go to WDW during the extended Star Wars Weekends and I made it a pont to find out and wait in line to get my picture made with Jedi Mickey!! Then, I went to the store and bought a Jedi Mickey that I have on my headboard of my bed. Some of the characters I can do without but if it is one I like, whether or not I have my kids with me or not, I will get in line to get my picture made as well. ::MickeyMo :confused3 :sunny:

The characters nor the people around me seemed to mind when I became like a 6 yr old girl all giggles and wiggles with Chip N Dale or anyone else. They seen delighted in fact to see a grown up who "gets the magic". Geez, when Wishes starts I bounce up and down and clap my hands and get all misty. Even my own kids don't get embarrassed after all it's the Happiest Place on Earth if someone has a problem with you being happy, even slap happy, at WDW then they are wasting their time and money being there. Enjoy it and be a kid again! :earsboy:

Sigh. When I was talking to another guy at work today about interacting with the characters, he was looking at me like I had two heads.

Some people just don't get it. :(
