What do your kids wish for?

I´m going to New York for a few days in October and would like to finish all Christmas gifts (and my oldest kids birthday gifts) while there. Even though New York is expensive most things only cost half of what they cost here.

My kids have no clue yet what they would like for Christmas. They are:

Boy, 15
Girl, 13
Girl, 7
Girl, 4
Boy, 1 1/2

Those of you who have kids in that age range, any ideas what you will get them for Christmas?

The 7 yr old would love some HSM bedding, and if I find any that fit our European sized beds, I will try to get her this. I have no clue about the rest.

DD17: Kindle or a Fujifilm Waterproof Digital Camera

DS9: Would like a laptop or a nintendo dsi

My niece 13: video games

Nephews 3 & 4: Anything Thomas the Tank (loved it since they were babies).

DSi
American Girl Dolls/accessories
Handy Manny is big in my house with my 3 year old.

DD10 Cowgirl boots, DS games, clothes, Wii games, PS2 games, magazines

DD9 DS games, clothes, Wii games, PS2 games, connectagons, a marble game

(They are sitting here telling me what they want - I am surprised at all the video games, because they rarely play them)

Thanks for the ideas :)

Video games would be an "easy way out" but this year (last year also) my kids haven´t wished for any. Oldest DS mostly plays online games when he plays (hardly uses his PS 2 anymore) and oldest DD isn´t into video/computer games at all. She sold her Nintendo DS a year ago.

Soooo, I need to get creative, lol.

-Ipod touch or Nano
-American Girl Doll (just going to the AG Place would be a treat for your 7 yr old if she is into dolls).
-Legos
-video camera
-designer purse
-clothes for your teen boy

Where will you be going in NYC, maybe you could get special souveniers from the places you visit so they can remember their trip.

I just realized you probably aren't taking the kids with you, duh :headache:

Actually, my daughter wished for another dog last night on the wishing star. I told her that those wishes sometimes don't come to fruition for several years.

With that being said, she's five, and the one thing she REALLY wants for Christmas are those Zhu Zhu Pets things (there's a mega-thread on the budget board about them). Specifically, she wants the brown hamster and car. That's her number one Christmas Wish.

Neither have said yet, but I would guess my six year old might ask for a Wii and my sixteen year old a car. :)

Some other thoughts I have:

Six year old
These lights that you mount under their bed. They shine a blue light out around the bed (kind of like those on pimped up cars).

A fort making kit I saw somewhere. I just have to remember where now.

Sixteen year old

A new Fossil watch since his got stolen.

Movie gift card.

I guess I'd better start thinking a little bit more!

I have one child, a 13 year-old son who is asking for an HD TV in his room and a Playstation 3 console. That kid has some expensive taste.

Yup,you´re right. No kids this time. This is just a very quick "girls only" trip (with my 2 best friends) to get the Christmas shopping done at some somewhat sane prices. The price difference in gifts alone will pay for the trip for me;)

I actually might end up buying my 4 yr old and iPod, lol. Just a little shuffle since she´s really jelous of the ones her older siblings has and would love to be able to listen to kids stories and music in the car on long trips.

LOL. My 13 year old just said that she really only wants a rabbit. We already have a dog and a tortoise and a rabbit is out of the question.

A car???:scared1: Eek! And I thought my DD had an expensive taste since she wants a bike or a desk for her birthday. Their gifts usually run in the $100-$150 range, with $200 being the most we have ever spent on any birthday present for them (except for the drums my DS really needed since he was taking lessons).

The lights under the bed sound pretty fun though :goodvibes

I´m glad my DS thinks the PS3 is way too expensive. He has the money for it but doesn´t want one and has never asked for one either. He´s had his PS2 for 7 years now :)

I know both teens would love flatscreens for their rooms (only my oldest DS has a tv in his room, but for games and dvd´s only). However, they´re not within our budget.

The WII system is down to $200 and makes a great family gift, you could then buy each child a game appropriate to their age? DD12 wants a keyboard, Ibiza Hippie by Escada, Rockband for WII, magazine subscript to RockStar or Teen Beat, Converse sneakers, the new version of DS, the list goes on and on...I have already got Rockband and the perfume, will get the magazine subscription, and two or three other things when Xmas gets a little closer. Good luck with your shopping, and have fun!
