What do your kids think of Disney after going to Universal?

We are spending two days @ Universal @ RPH for front of the line access, and then moving over to Disney for 5 nights with extended family.

We have boys ages 7 and 8 and DD age 4. We were only planning on doing the Studios and not IOA. What have your kids thought of Disney when they have done Universal first? Have they been bored at all? I don't want the boys to think that it little kids like @ Disney.

BOTH of my neighbors have been to both. Their kids range from 5 to 13 years of age. They loved both parks. I'm sure mine will too. We've been to Disney twice for 4 days each, and they've never been bored.
How anyone could be "bored" at Disneyworld.......oh wait, I know kids like that (and adults too!).

I don't think the kids will be bothered as much as you will be!! The big problem with doing UO first is that the lines at WDW really become frustrating. FOTL at UO spoils you really bad. I also feel the UO hotels are much better than WDW, particularly for the $$. If at all possible, I would re-schedule the trip for WDW first, then UO, with a possible day off from the parks in between (swim day, shopping, etc) for everyone to re-charge their batteries.

My kids and grandkids....love Universal, they did years ago and still do. When they were teens they did get bored at Disney at times and want to go to Universal with the better rides as they used to say...but now it is a pretty even split they love both.

My kids love both but as they are getting older they'd rather spend more time at IOA. I see that you are not planning on going to IOA, if you have time I'd reconsider it's great!

The kids are 4,7 and 8... I was just a little hesitant to take them to IOA, but we might... I guess I will just have to do a little more research!!

My kids love IoA! They are 4, 10, 13, and 16 now (we went in April), but they really enjoyed themselves when we went 1 year ago, too, and also when they were almost 2, 8, 11, and 14. There is a variety of things to do and at least a day in each park would be a lot of fun. Three days would be even better.

My boy loves both, but with FOTL Mom and Dad get spoiled. I would do Disney and end at Universal.

My fifth grader and I enjoyed Universal so much last year that we spent a day longer than we intended to. We found less to do at IOA but it's a really nice park and we enjoyed a day there.

We visited WDW last and still enjoyed it even though we've been many times. It was fun resting at WDW after rushing around at Universal. We always tend to rush around when we're visiting a new place though.

I have a son who is almost 7 and a daughter who is almost 5 and both of them love Disney and Universal, however, my son informed me two days ago that he would rather go to Universal than Disney! He loves Universal, definitely because of Spiderman and I think he is growing out of his Buzz Lightyear phase!

My daughter loves the Princess', but would never tell me that...instead she is going to say the same thing as my son because they are so close! LOL

We will spend some time at Disney in June, but mostly will be at Universal. The kids love Suess Landing, as well the Marvel Comics area.

My DS 10 loves Universal. When I gave him the choice of which parks to visit the first thing he said was Universal/IOA!

I would do Disney first and then go to US/IOA.

I prefer US/IOA....they have more rides that offer thrills and excitment.

As others have said I would do Disney first and then go to Universal. We went to IOA first and then Disney, and I found Disney to be a bit of a let-down.

I would also HIGHLY recommend IOA. It is an awesome park!

Another recommendation for IOA! My DDs are 7, 5 and 2 and we always visit both US and IOA. I think your boys will love the Marvel Superhero Island and Jurassic Park sections of the park and your DD will love Seuss Landing. Good luck planning!

FOTL has spoiled us. When we were planning our trip to Orlando this year, the only discussion we had about Disney was centered around the desire not to go back and face those lines. We will be visiting NASA instead.

Well you asked this question on the Universal board of US/IOA fans. We are fans, but from the perspective of my 13 year old DD, WDW rules. We spent two weeks at WDW last year, and one weekend at Universal was plenty. Yeah, she loves the rides and FOTL. But I guess because the parks there are more tightly packed (or maybe because there's really only one main access around the parks), it seems more crowded and hotter. There's no place to sit in the shade and enjoy some entertainment, like there is at WDW. She also enjoys all the CM and character interaction, for instance at World Showcase, that you don't get at Universal. And she likes animals, more of those at WDW. She absolutely loves the hands on stuff, and there's more of that at WDW too. But a friend of hers went with us once, and thought Universal ruled. They're just different, you won't know which you prefer until you do both for yourself, and it changes with the kids' different ages. Diana

We went to WDW and to Universal last year. This year we are just going back to HRH and only visiting the Universal parks. I don't like to compare WDW and Universal. There is hardly "themed" park like Walt Disney World due to how massive the property is and all of its potential. I think with that comes more crowds, more time and more money! Other than WDW, staying on site at Universal and visiting US/IOA and Citywalk beats any other themed or amusement park that I have visited. Besides enjoying great resorts on site, guests receive continuous express on all attractions is remarkable. I think we feel more relaxed while being totally stimulated! When we had visited both we did Universal first and then WDW. After having the ability to go directly to the express line each and every time just can not compare to fast pass at Disney. As superior as Disney is, we found ourselves more frustrated NOT being able to see and do many things because it was too time consuming. Lines were long, parks were very crowded and fast passes ran out quickly. The water parks closed by 11 am. I think for me, visiting Disney requires more time, which means more money. Sorry this is long.

I just wanted to add that I agree with the others, that your kids will love both US and IOA. I would not skip that park, as they should love it too.

I do have to say that I would not switch your US and WDW parts of your trip however. From your countdown it looks like you are going in Aug (like me) and I would guess that the crowds may be a bit lighter at WDW the later in Aug that you arrive.

My kids 5 and 7 love USO and IOA. They think it's better than Disney. My 7 started to like the more "wilder" ride. While my 5 just loves Suess Landing and Shrek and Jimmy Nuetron. My 7 enjoys the Jaws ride, Men in Black, and Spiderman ride. I like both parks. And I love staying on-site at Universal! Easy access to the parks!!

I think once you stay on-site and take advantage of the FOTL and eperience both parks, you might get HOOKED on Universal! I know we did!!
