I was reading the GoPro thread and it got me thinking. What type of video/photo technology do you use in Disney?

I have a DSLR that takes photos and videos. However, I am thinking about getting a smaller, more portable, camera and/or a small camcorder.

We of course also use our iPhones.

What do you use?

PS-- We are buying Memory Maker this trip but of course still want to take some photos/videos of our own. :)

I used to use my DSLR and have a lot of great, fun shots from our 2013 trip. I didn't even bring it on my last trip. My phone has a really great camera for photo and video and we bought MM. We'll probably never bring the DSLR again now that we're done with a stroller and would have to carry it the whole time.

If you use your phone, I recommend a free app called Snapseed for editing. Pics that might not have otherwise looked great could benefit from it.

GoPro, as discussed.

Nikon DSLR, and iPhone sometimes.

Put together a video, online photo album, and physical prints/book.

We also had MM and those are some of the best shots.

Disney trips are so special, but it's a tough balance of living it, savoring the real life moments, but capturing them for the future too.

I think our children's generation will remember more of these experiences because of all this documentation than we did as kids.

I have a nice DSLR, a decent point and shoot, and a Flip camcorder...I only use my iPhone, though. I think the best camera is the one you USE and have with you and as much as I've tried to use my "real" cameras, I just don't. We pay for Memory Maker and get tons of photos with that.

Nikon D300 for travel.... Sony or Canon camcorder for video. Blackberry for quickee's.
  • large DSLR sensor for quality images and strong flash
  • optical zoom with camcorder
yeah... kinda old school

For my video in my signature I used a Sony HD Cam, I really like it and it's still small. Although i'm still debating whether to try my gropro on a handgrip. I think I can get some really cool shots and angles with the gopro. I actually have a few mounts to attach to my stroller for different angles. At the same time the optic zoom is a big plus for the Sony and with a kiddo sometimes I like to get up close while being further away, we will see. I have 25 days to decide :/

In the words of the Dreamfinder: "Imagination." I didn't get the photo gene, I don't like taking pictures, posing for pictures, or looking at pictures whether they are still shots are video. I do have an appreciation for great photography, I'm just not participating. :earsboy:

Im kinda local (90 min away) so it's less lifetime trip memories and more "cute thing my nephew did" so iPhone is plenty of camera for me.

Also, I like to film most of the parades and fireworks shows on my iPad. Works out the upper arms. Benefits people behind me who can see the show even better through the display.

I KID. I KID!!

I just opened my brand new GoPro Hero4 Silver tonight and started practicing. I opted to buy this and film a lot of video instead of of taking my Canon 70D and shooting lots of photos in two weeks.

To capture the memories I just look at my credit card statement pirate:. But with photo we use our phones and an old school digital camera

I use a combination of DSLR and iPod/iPhone. I take the DSLR if I plan to be photographing something specific, like the Osborn lights, but use the iPhone/iPod for everyday snapshots most days.

I have a small canon and a DSLR but I never bring them. I use my phone and buy memory maker. It's just more convenient. I do buy extra memory cards for my phone when we are there to make photo transfer easy.

I had my big DSLR last year out every day because my phone had an awful camera. This year I have an awesome phone camera (Samsung Galaxy SK) so I'm looking forward to leaving my big one at the hotel for a few days. Plus MM for all those ride photos and magic shots

Even though I have a DSLR - I never bring it to WDW. I purchase the MM and carry my Lumix waterproof point & shoot [I have a bit of a camera obsession and have a wide variety of cameras] and of course my iPhone. That covers everything.
