I guess we have different definitions of success. That movie always make me feel vaguely embarrassed, and like I should start talking with a Southern accent.
@ Mort. I love watching it I like the part with the skating in Ottawa and Carnival and the ariel shots of the mountains etc yes we look like lumberjacks from teh 70's but that is part of the beauty of our country. I think it shows a true taste of Canada and what it is not what it has become. You could switch our countries name with many others and you wouldn't know the difference anymore. Society in a whole is so intertwined with fashion being the same etc that you could walk down Young street or some street in Japan or the US etc and the people all look the same dress the same etc. Our film differentiates us from the rest and that is one thing I love about it.
Nope it is a great bit of nostalgia and it should remain the same and from what I gather it is a government funded thing and with our Feds it will never get changed which is great IMHO LOL.
I thought I read last year that Tim Hortons was going to take over sponsorship of the Canada pavillion.
Maybe we should push them to take it over and revamp it with an e-mail campaign, at least we would have some good coffee at Epcot.
Ya finally somone that feels the same as I do about the film.
As for the Tim Hortons comment well that would be nice to see I would love to get my old Fashioned Plain doughnut while at Disney as it is now after we pass the last Timmies just south of Dayton I am out of luck and our family doesn't do KK doughnuts they suck.
My kids (who are now in their 20's) always come out shaking their heads with embarrassment. They feel like it makes Canadians look like hicks stuck in the past and they feel that most people who see it won't realize that it's something like 25 years old.
There are lots of unique and wonderful things about Canada that I'd love our neighbours to the south to know more about! An up-to-date movie that would really showcase our country would be wonderful.
But Tim Horton's coffee - could be dangerous. They'd all move north en masse and then what would we do?
