Hi All!
The long awaited SW flights for January came out today and I am looking for Jan. 13 from Buf to Mco and Jan. 20 from Mco to Buf. Tonight when I got home from work and saw that the flights were opened up, the lowest 2 fares were already sold out for the n/s a.m. flights. I couldn't believe that this was the case so I booked the "fun fare" at $167 for Buf to Mco one way, non-refundable.

Here is my question...the return flights are going for $145-213. I have not booked yet but am thinking that these could go fast too. Do I wait it out and hope for a ding on the outbound flights and then book the return with the excess funds?

Or do I book the highest fare which is refundable to insure we have a seat and then when a ding comes out for the first flight use the ticketless travel funds for the return flight and cancel the refundable flight?

Just don't want to come home some night and find out that we have no seats to come home on...

Thoughts anyone?
Thanks!
Anne

If your staying with SW book what you can now.or you will pay the higher price . I've been watching my Oct flights and the one I wanted never came down with the Dings so I choose an earlier flight with the Ding. No big problem we get in 50 mins earlier arriving at 9:00am instead of 10:00 . I will get up an hour ealry to $250 that I saved but the next 2 flights that had both the lowest fares never opened with the last 2 Dings that were avail on other times that day.

Even if you book the advance purchase fare that says non-refundable can you get a credit if you get a ding for a cheaper rate?

Yes You get a Tickless travel voucher or credit for any SWA flights you book even if you just don't show up ( No check-in I think ) .My flights that I just changed to a Ding were Fun Fares .

The only downside is it's only good for 1 year from book date not travel date.

You can sometimes get a small extension but thats it.They also have it so you can't rebook a flight then cancel that one to start the 1 year over agian it reverts back to the original purchse date.

But SW has the best and most flexable no fees when it comes to changing flights. You can even sell the vouchers for someone else to use.I have 4 flights booked right now with 1 $250 credit and hoping for some on my 2 DEC trips that I can use for our June trip.

Always BOOK One-Ways ( no RT on the same Confirm number) as it's easier to cancel for the DINGS . Regular price reductions it doesn't matter you can change them through the travel center on the web.
