We are a family of five. My husband and I and our 3 kids (7, 5 and 3). We wanted all different reservations this trip. We also booked pretty last minute and this is the best we can come up with! If you have any good suggestions on what to order at each place, i'd love to hear it!

Captain's Grille for dinner
Tutta Italia for lunch
Kona Cafe for dinner (trying to get 1900 Fare instead since we tried this)
Sci-Fi for dinner
Grand Floridian Cafe dinner
Boma for dinner
Cape May Cafe for breakfast

just to assure you that there are good choices for the kids at Boma! My younger DS is on the spectrum and can be picky:laughing: he loves the fresh fruit, meatballs, chicken legs, and french fries. the desserts were yummy too! there is also plain penne pasta with sauce in a pan next to it. My ds will not touch pasta, but loved the meatballs??!!

The only change I would make is SCI-FI. Food was mediocre at best, service slow...even the cool atmosphere of the theming could't fix a bad experience overall.

You have one of my favorite "hidden gems" - the Captain's Grille.....DS ate with no hassle what-so-ever and I adore the 3 course meal...

We have tried Tutto, Boma and Kona and really like them all. Boma and Kona on our must do list and Tutto was added last year after visiting for the first time.

We are trying Captain's Grille for the first time this year so I hope it is good.

Grand Floridian Cafe is one we have never tried but are considering it for next year so post your thoughts when you return.

We have done Cape May for dinner may times but never for breakfast.

As for the Sci-Fi we have never tried it and wouldn't. The atmosphere is supposed to be good but the food is suspect.

Meh... I disagree with the people saying bad things about Sci-Fi. I enjoy it every time and I haven't had a bad experience in 10 trips.

I also disagree with the ppl saying Sci Fi is bad. I LOVE IT!!!!!! Most importantly, my son loves it and has fun there. As long as my kid likes the atmosphere and has fun....then im happy too. And the atmosphere is fun. I think every kid should experience it at least once in their disney life! I think the food is tasty for a drive in. I loved their ribs and shakes. Cheeseburgers are great too. Never had a bad meal here.

Your other choices are great! But dont give up on other ressies that you want. If you try daily, im sure you will get something. I planned many trips at the last minute and was able to get even the popular restaurants by being persistent!

i didn't think the food at sci-fy was bad, just wasn't impressed with it. for one time, hubby and I got a kick out of the theme. but I think it would be lsot on todays kids. heck, when we took our teen boys in the 90's the theme was lost on them...what did THEY know about the colossal man, etc.. old balck and white scify movies?

Grand Floridian Cafe dinner - I love this restaurant we have had several lovely meals both lunch and dinner here and the atmosphere and service has always been excellent. Depending what time you are having dinner you may be in time afterwards to see the MK fireworks from the jetty.

Boma buffet for dinner - another good choice. You can get a glimpse of the animals as well which is fun.

Cape May Cafe buffet for breakfast - Great choice for a character breakfast that you and the children will love, lots of fun and the food is just great.

The Sci Fi restaurant we have not eaten there for a few years now so cannot comment on what the food is like now and the other 3 restaurants we have not eaten at.

Cape May - excellent choice for character breakfast, so impressed how the characters really take their time with each child and allow ample time for pics. great experience there!

Grand Floridian Cafe - just a lovely place. can't go wrong anywhere in the GF Resort! Very nice restaurant!

Have fun!

Grand Floridian Cafe - I usually get the pasta dish with chicken or shrimp I had the salad with strawberries. Not that good.

Kona - We love the sticky wing app. The soup is kind of spicy. The sushi looks amazing if you like that. Dh had the tuna oscar last time and enjoyed it. I had my usual ribeye. Dh has also gotten the terriyaki steak in the past. For dessert there I like the banana creme brule. I think the kiddie kone looks fun.

Tutto - we usually do dinner. I had the lasagna. Some people think it tastes strange. We are going again in december. Some people have said the bowtie pasta lacks sauce. I love the service there, very attentive. I like the ice cream type dessert. I think its like 14.

Captains Grille - we went here in May and both hated this place. We had the crab cake app. It was horrible and I sent it back. We then both had the rock shrimp app. The salad was nothing special. We both got the steaks. While they were huge, mine was overcooked. I saw a man at another table get the porkchop (something I was contemplating to get). It was barely touched. Appartently he didnt like it either. I think we had gelato for dessert. We didnt care for that either. The good thing was that our server was super sweet and nice and friendly.

Cape May Breakfast is good. I do see sometimes they are slow on the drink refills. The character interaction is good.

Captain's Grille for dinner - we ate there once and the food was excellent...I think I am going to book it again for our next trip

Tutta Italia for lunch - did a solo lunch here and it was amazing, still a rushed type of enviroment but the food was sooo good!

Kona Cafe for dinner (trying to get 1900 Fare instead since we tried this) - do not like 1900 PF at all, the food is just gross but Kona is pretty good. Love the wings

Sci-Fi for dinner - really enjoy lunch but never been for dinner

Grand Floridian Cafe dinner - had a great meal here, from appies to desserts it was great!

Boma for dinner - we are not fans of sweet foods (except dessert) and all the foods were heavily seasoned with vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, allspice etc

Cape May Cafe for breakfast - our fav breakfast ever!

Here is my take, we did a lot of these on our last trip in May and had a great experience:

Captain's Grille for dinner - definitely a nice choice, great place to relax when tired from the parks. Food was very good, but nothing super impressive.
Tutta Italia for lunch - we liked this food very much, very authentic!
Kona Cafe for dinner (trying to get 1900 Fare instead since we tried this) - never tried, but almost went while waiting for my Ohana reservation for 45 minutes. I know they have the same sticky wings which are AWESOME. Menu looks great!
Sci-Fi for dinner - never tried but gets a lot of praise.
Grand Floridian Cafe dinner - very similar to captains grille IMHO, very good but not great. Another great place to get away from the parks and sit in the AC.
Boma for dinner - LOVED it, awesome selection and great deserts! :thumbsup2
Cape May Cafe for breakfast - never had it, but it was definitely a contender. we aren't really breakfast people, particularly not a buffet that early....
