What do you think of Nerf Guns?

There are four of them under our tree - two big ones and 2 medium sized ones. The big ones are for DH and I!:lmao: They are awesome and fun!

My son who is 12 has loved them since he was 7. Both kids are in karate and they have a nerf war a couple times a month and even the adults and girls have tons of fun playing.

Thanks everyone. I know Everyoone here would let me know if these guns were cool or a dud-lol! I like the fact that these are nerf so a lil safer then getting hit by harder material. These dont look like real guns so police or people wont mistake these for the real thing. I have to go to Target, wal-mart and khols and Toys r us today so I'll see the best deal. Off to work I go-lol Have a great day!

One tip: don't buy the new camo darts. They look cool, but the kids have a hard time finding the bright orange ones in the yard. Great idea on their part though cause you'd never find them and need more right away.

You beat me to this tip...when I first saw them at the store I thought that was the worst idea in the world...but you're absolutely right that it is brilliance on their part with the need to replace them!

 we were looking at those last week and laughing about the same thing. Camo darts - geesh!

I didn't read all the replies...I just wanted to add My 26 year old brother and 35 year old husband STILL play with the guns. LOL. They will randomly sneak up on each other and then attack.

They only have the smaller guns...nothing really elaborate. They do share with the kids sometimes too ;)

Great for this age. If their dad is a big kid at heart you might want to get him one also. Also think about it for the girls. Thast way they can all play.

TRU usually has the best buys for those and the best choices.

This age? Tell that to my grown adult children, their cousins, father and uncles! They're great for children of almost any age. No Christmas is complete w/o them!

perfect for boys.. my 4 year old has been using them since he was 2.. and he knows to only shoot at the feet..

They're not just for boys. Girls will enjoy them too.

Re the marshmallow shooters...just like the nerf guns, you'll be finding those mini marshmallows all over the house for months to come. Hopefully you find them before the ants. :headache:

Got my son two big guns and two single guns last year for Christmas. It started out being the kids against our neighbor (Dad)....turned into the whole house against the neighbor! We had a blast! He's gotten two more guns since and Santa is bringing a machine gun this year. We have the glasses to wear, but also have the rule of no head shots.

I have to think they are safer than the suction cup dart guns we used as kids (Charlies Angels guns....that was a fun Christmas!)

After Christmas, I believe we will have 5 Nerf guns in the house. DS11 is ALWAYS outside, having wars with the 12-year-old boy across the street!

To call a Nerf gun "a waste of money" is blasphemy, LOL. Most boys love those guns. My kids asked for the Stampede (VERY popular this year). The Nerf N-strike swords are also really popular. The best deal I've seen all season was $39 for a Stampede on Amazon about 3 days ago. Target usually carries them but they do sell out quickly (I see 4 Stampedes on a Monday, all gone by Wednesday for weeks now). Target also sells the swords.

between my sons, husband, brother, nephews and other kids, I should have STOCK in NERF! I feel like I am constantly buying one product or another all year round, and yes, 1/2 of the gift recepients are adults! and the nieces love them too!

funny thing is my 7 year old had 3 things on his santa list this year, and all three were nerf. I asked if he wanted anything else and he said mom, if I get all three of these, I would be in heaven!

last weekend I had to take my youngest (the 7 year old) to get stiches (he "forgot" to use the ladder to get out of his tree house) As we get into the Dr office and I have to strip him down so he can get weighed, I pulled 2 of the small nerf guns out of his pocket, a sheriff bage off his shirt and a loop of rope off his belt loop. I asked what the rope was for and he said for getting the cattle rustlers mom..geeze... (i guess the poor dogs were the cattle?:confused3

We have 2 sons, and about 45-50 Nerf guns. No kidding. They are fun that never ends. Their birthdays are 2 weeks apart (and 3 years). We usually go bowling with friends, then sleepover at our house for birthday parties. Last year all they wanted to do was a Giant Nerf Gun War. We had 20 boys, the Teck 6 guns were the treat bags, and LOTS of fun. They had a war for 6 hours, 3 hours sleep, 4 more hours before parents started coming. They thought it was the best time and said they want to do that every year. They have maps to the house drawn out and places to hide marked! They already are planning out the March party. Our two each have the ammo box that comes with 100 darts. ENDLESS FUN!!! Oh, by the way, we always play inside and we have NEVER had anything broken, even with 20 boys playing.

To us, there is no such thing as a bad Nerf Gun. Our fave is the pump up one from Target. I think its a Target Exclusive.

TRU is too expensive when you compare prices.

oh boy! After reading all these post I definiety have to buy two for nephews and maybe one for my dd and hubby.

I think my DS7 has around 5 or 6. Sometimes we all get one and play teams. DD5 likes to play to, but would rather get a barbie or littlest pet shop.

We also have the one theat came with two medium guns, 2 small guns, vest with bullseyes and glasses. We got that at tru awhile back.

He is getting an automatic one for christmas.

Nerf guns and dodge ball are the most popular things to do in our neighborhood. I asked my husband does our son really need yet another nerf gun for christmas seeing as he received the dart tag and some big one my mil game him? the reply was a boy can never have too many nerf guns or ammo.. lol.. so the stampede is hiding in my garage until christmas morning.

my son got that one for his bday in Nov. Target had it on sale for $27.99 plus I used the $5.00 toy book coupon. He likes it.

My older boys, 7 and 4 love their nerf guns!! We found a bunch a few months back at a garage sale for .50 each! Yep, I said .50 each!!!! We have fun nerf gun wars and of course we spend several days after that randomly finding the darts, but it is what it is.

I think your nephews will love one.

Has anyone tried the knockoff ones? They look like the darts are the same size. There is a set of two at BJ's that DS keeps eyeing, but I would hate for them to be crummy and not quite the same size darts.
