Barbie has been banned from my house since before my kids were even born. There was a Barbie that was released that said “math is hard”. As a math teacher, I refuse to have that in my home.
Technically she said "Math class is tough"...IIRC it was Lisa Simpson's Malibu Stacy doll on an episode of The Simpsons who said "Math is hard". I agree with both dolls LOL.
My sister bit the toes off my Barbie. I believe I may still have a bit of resentment....bahahahaThe only thing I remember about Barbie is my older sister taking my favorite Barbie, who had floor-length hair, and giving her a buzz cut. She then took apart a Bic pen and unsuccessfully tried to dye its hair with the blue ink.![]()
I'm glad I missed the Monster High Dolls too. My girls would have LOVED them. The always liked things being a bit different. And now my youngest (almost 21) buys them to repaint them. She re-roots their hair and everything. She's quite talented. My girls were in to the Bratz. Oh, how I hated Bratz!!!I loved my Barbies and am still mad my mother made me give them away when I was 13/14 lol!
My DD didn't care much for Barbies or dollhouses. I was so sad when I realized there was no point blowing a bunch of money on a huge fancy dollhouse for DD. She was into Littlest pet shops so that's what I got for her.
I was so glad she had zero interest in those Monster High dolls. I did not like them at all! But my DD has always been more conservative than me, even as a little girl.
I felt the same way about Lego. I never had a single piece as my parents considered it "boys" toys. I had a heyday with them and all the other things my boy-cousins played with when we were all together at Grandma's.I adored Barbie and her friends, especially Midge and Francie. I only wish in my era (‘60s and ‘70s), it had been “ok” for boys to play with them . I do have the complete collection of Mattel I Love Lucy dolls, never out of the box.

But you were wrong - I hope you banned the Simpsons from your house! (see below) Also, just out of curiosity do you ban other things because of urban myths?
There actually was a Barbie that says that. I was not referencing the Simpsons episode.

Her thing was stuffed animals for years and Webkinz (remember that craze?).
