What do you think of Animal Kingdom?

Not a fan of AK. For our next trip the general feeling of the group is: been there, done that, no need to go back. There are some interesting exhibits but overall not a lot to do, and I disagree that the safari is great. There's only so much scripted CM screaming through an amplified microphone that I can take
As to the intentionally cheesy-themed midway area - I can get that at our county fair every fall, and it's a whole lot less expensive.

I hated it the first time I went. But I read an AllEars article and realized I missed a lot while I was there. Now, when I go, I visit other things (hidden treasures) and have come to realize I love that park.

Looks like we'll be going to MK. I guess that's what I thought you'd all say. We are planning a big long-week stay at Disney in November of 2007 (Jersey Week) when the kids are older so they will get to see it all eventually. But how could I pass up free tickets!?!?

I just have to realize that we won't see all of MK in a day and that the little ones won;t be able to ride all the rides, but they will be thrilled anyway! :cheer2:

Thanks for all your input!

same here, we used to rush through AK and leave before noon. Now we take all day there, and still have stuff we can't do. So many little things so many people forget about. I love talking to the CMs and learning about the animals, how Disney creates the atmosphere, etc. When we started taking the time to learn the park, and not running to the next thrill ride, is when we fell in love with AK. Besides, Flame Tree BBQ is the best bargain for the buck (IMHO) and is a must do for every trip. But I do have to add, if I had small children, and only had one day, MK is a sentimental favorite.

I feel really sorry for those who don't like AK. It is really a great park.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that is what makes these boards great.

Now, to me, it is not a trip to Disney without a visit to the Magic Kingdom! :wizard:

In your situation, I would visit MK. There will be plenty to do and your kids will be able to ride most of the rides there. The magic at MK is special.

I love AK, but MK is Disney at it's finest.

While AK has become my favorite park, I would take the kids to MK if I had only one day.

If you had a park hopper, AK is fine, but I feel bad for those who paid $55 to walk into the gates.

$55 for the day is not worth it, especially when places like the Bronx Zoo or SD Zoo charge less then half that...(heck the National Zoo is free and has chinese pandas)

Disney should just bite the bullet, admit it's not a $55 park and lower the daily cost

AK is an awesome park, but I think your kids will really love MK. MK can't be beat. Just walking around Fantasyland is exciting. There are plenty of rides they can enjoy and tons of characters they will meet. MK is simply magical! It would definately be my choice! ::MickeyMo
