What do you think "CERTAIN LIMITATIONS" means?

received in yesterday's mail postcard/flyer from DVC regarding doing add-on at BLT with info on price increasing to $120 on November 1st; in fine print it states :

" effective November 1, 2009, the starting price for a 25 vacation point Member Add On at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort will be $3,000, and certain limitations may apply."

Just curious, not that I always pay close attention to the fine print when we receive these type of things in mail but for some reason both DH and I are thinking we don't recall seeing " and certain limitations may apply. " Has anyone seen wording to this effect before and what sort of limitations do you think DVC could be referring to ? My first thought was there may be a limit regarding max number of add on points for BLT. Or maybe how you'd be allowed to use them....wouldn't that mean changing POS then if there are restrictions made to BLT point usage ?

Thoughts ?

Disney does a good job of legalese. They may have something up their sleeve or they may just be leaving the door open for future changes.

On the other hand, maybe they are trying to scare you into buying now before November 1.

It could be something like if you buy less than 100 points, you find your own financing or pay it all at once. If you buy at least 100 points, you can finance through Disney. Or there are no incentives offered for less than 50 or 100 points.

Uh-oh, I feel another announcement by Jim Lewis coming on which will start with his infamous introduction about how they are making some changes that "will enhance the membership experience" and being done "because so many members have told us that they wanted these enhancements." Whenever he uses those words reach down and check to make sure your wallet is still there.

I would not try to read too much into this phrase. By using that phrase, Disney has alerted the prospective buyer that it is a "qualified" offer that comes with some restrictions. Some of these restrictions should are already be known to DVC members. For example, the add-on must match the UY of your existing master contract. And isn't there a limit on the number of points a member can have at any one resort (2,000 points?), or within the DVC system (5,000 points?)? Thus, you can't buy an add-on that would let you exceed those point limitations.

Yes probably nothing more than what I initially thought about limit to number of add-on points a member would be permitted to purchase...just made me wonder if it leaves door open for them to draw up additional restrictions since it's kind of a blanket statement but it's similiar to stating 'restrictions may apply' which I know I've seen in most other mailings.

The phrase "certain limitations may apply" follows any mention of a total purchase price. Example:

DVC has included that language for years in both print materials and on the website. One specific item comes to mind which may fall under this umbrella: closing costs for new members, which are not included in the price cited.
