I'm going back to Disney in late May and just made a whole bunch of dinner reservations. One of my reservations was to the Rainforest Cafe. I have never been there but I looked at their menu and it seemed fairly decent. Share your experiences with Rainforet Cafe.

I've never been for dinner, but have gone quite a few times for breakfast, which is enjoyable. The Audio-Animatronics can be noisy and distracting. I think that when the restaurant is crowded, like it sometimes is for dinner, it would feel like utter chaos.

We got to RFC sometimes here in TX. The kids love it, me not so much. It's a bit over priced for what you get. But part of Disney is the enjoyment you get from going places like this. Since we have one here we won't be going in Disney. But knowing what I know from the ones here I wouldn't want to pay the price for not so good food.

Me personally, I liked the atmosphere and the theming and all the animals. The food I didn't like we got the chimi chachas for appetizer and they were pretty good. I don't remember what I got for an entree, but I remember I wasn't impressed. I remember the price was outrageous for the quality of the food. I would personally rather go to Planet Hollywood. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with other posters that the price is really expensive. But, my kids like the atmosphere. It was a little chaotic when we went. We went for supper at DTD. We didn't have a long wait though. And they have a really nice gift shop. And the t shirts were decently priced.

We went to the Rainforest Cafe during our recent trip in January and we had also gone in our previous trip in June 09.
I like going there and and the food is always amazing- but after experiencing it twice I now wish I had used that time to try more Disney-specific food- because we have a Rainforest Cafe close by us I can always try it back home!!

Having said that- If you are looking to go at Animal Kingdom I say go for it if you need a table service meal because so far I haven't found one table service meal in the park that I like... I love the Flametree BBQ for a quick service... but haven't been happy with a single TS meal.

We tried it twice and both times found it to be EXTREMELY expensive and the food was less than mediocre. We were really surprised. We wanted to love it, we just didnt.

I think it's possibly the worst exepensive food I've ever had, even though I've never been to the one in Disney, I've unfortunately been to the one in Chicago twice.

We love it. I think its my husbands favorite place to eat. It is loud, but its a lot of fun and the food is always good. We don't find it expensive. As a matter of fact, dear husband wants to eat there when he doesn't want to spend a fortune. Other Disney restaurants are way more expensive than the RC.

We have eaten at the Msp Rainforest many times and while the kids really enjoy it, it IS quite expensive. I usually just order a burger, but my dh is more adventurous and orders a pasta dish he loves.
Its fun if you've never been there before, simply for the experience. And make sure that if you're spending THAT much money on it, you get the Volcano for dessert. My kids love every moment of the sparkly dessert but it will set you back another $15 or so in Msp.
So IMHO, if you've never tried it, go ahead. Just be sure to pack some extra money!! :thumbsup2
*We have never eaten at the AK location restaurant, just to be clear*

We go to RC and also T-Rex for the kids, not us. Its a bit loud (T-Rex even more so) and somewhat overpriced, (but compared to other Disney restaurants not too bad). I usually get an entree salad and they have allways been good. I like what the PP said - just get a big drink to help numb the pain.

I have to admit that RFC is the first place I hit when I get there.

I stay at POR, and arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving and check-in about 11:00 am or so. My room usually isn't ready until around 3:00 pm, since they are so busy with people checking out.

I take the water taxi and head down to DTD, and sit at the bar and watch a college football game until my room is ready.

I love, love, love their Bamba's Barbeque Wrap with the shredded beef. The chicken salad sandwich is too die for.

And I like the Chicken Fried Chicken, but I really miss the original slaw they had for that; now it is just regular coleslaw. Drats.

We have eaten both lunch, and a late dinner there.
We enjoyed it .
Not "excellent", but, pretty decent food and cool atmosphere :thumbsup2

I've only been to the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney, Anaheim. I've only been there during dinner hours, and sometimes the wait can be long, but I usually stroll around the shops before heading back. Every visit has been a pleasure, and I really love the food and the atmosphere. I don't mind the price so much.

We went on our last trip (Feb '10) and we were not impressed. It took a really long time to get our food and we were all so hungry!! And once we got our food it was only ok and WAY too expensive! We will not be going back there.

Another that wasn't impressed. We tried the one at AK in January for lunch. I didn't think the food was terribly overpriced compared to some Disney locations, but it wasn't impressive at all. Our table was right at the entrance, so I had a "gift shop view" the entire meal. It might've been more fun had we been a seated a little farther into the restaurant. The service was probably the worst part though. I don't see us going back.

We like the "show", but find that it's VERY LOUD even when the show isn't doing the thunder storm. Some of the food is really good. One pizza in particular The Brave New World we enjoy and the coconut shrimp are excellent.

We just did AK Rainforest last month with our kids. They enjoyed the "show" and atmosphere. Food was edible but we had many other much better meals during our stay. Since it's not on the DDP I wouldn't go again in the near future. Once is enough for us.
