We will be travelingext Oct or Nov with our then 2 children. DD willbe 6 and Ds will be aorund 2. We loved the idea of DVc because of the rooms availbale. We like our space and we do not break our necks to get everything done every day. Should we request a 1br or 2? We really want the kids and us to have space while we are in the room and with us being new to 2 chidlren was wandering what everyone else does. We will only go once next year and for one week so points are not an issue.....any thoughts from those of you who are experienced parents??

While I don't have children myself...I would think your DD would be perfectly comfortable on the pull out sofa, and your DS, I assume would perhaps be in the pack N play? Until your kids are older, I see no problems with a 1 Bedroom unit. And as the kids grow, you could put one on the floor in a sleeping bag or air matress for several more years. I'd want to "save" the points and spend as many happy days at Disney with them as possible while they still believe in the magic. They are only young once.

We prefer the 2 bedroom. However, we MORE prefer multiple trips, so the one bedroom has won out recently.

Our kids (6 and 2) love the pull-out sofa bed. They think it is so cool. We always pull out the pack-n-play provided, but we never end up using it. Just put the sofa cushions up to make a wall on the toddler's side.

I would suggest at least the one bedroom though. A studio will be tight for a full-size family.

If you do decide to go with a 2 bedroom, you might consider requesting a dedicated unit. FWIW, not all the DVC resorts have dedicated two bedrooms - I know for sure that BWV does not.

If you get a lock off, there will be a door to the outside from the second bedroom. Some parents are not comfortable with that when there are small children sleeping without an adult in the second bedroom. For example, I know my adventurous 4 year old nephew would be gone in a heartbeat!

Best wishes -

For now, 1-bedroom will be plenty, and you might like it better than a studio since it will give the adults some privacy, even for something as simple as turning off the lights at a different time than they go off for the little ones. The 1-bedroom also has the kitchen and jacuzzi.

Right now, I wouldn't do the 2-bedroom, since it will put the kids pretty far away from the parents at night, and none of you will like that. Later, especially with kids of different sexes, the 2-bedroom will be wonderful.

I would go with a 2 bedroom. Why rent a one bedroom than not be able to use the living room because your kids will be asleep in it. I never let anyone use the living room for sleeping, it just doesn't seem right to me. A one bedroom has only one bed; therefore, should only be for two people or one of course. I have always went with a two bedroom with our kids in the second bedroom.
