What do you read?

I love to read. Since the children were born I have had very little time to read, but that time is increasing. I have recently discovered the world of audio books. I put them on my iPod and I am happy. I still read, but I have more time to listen. I always have at least 2 books going. One next to my bed and one in my bag that I take everywhere. Do you have a favorite author? I have enjoyed the Janet Evanovich Plum series and now I have started all of her previous releases and I love those too. I Love the Cook series too. I can't read horror, but my DH loves the horror movies and books. I have so many favorites, but I'll wait to read everybody's favorites.
Oh I have to admit I do pick up the occassional Us, or any tabloid magazine too.

I read most anything I get my hands on! I just finished "90 Minutes in Heaven" and am reading the sequel - "Heaven's Real". Even if you don't embrace the Christian faith, they are both worth reading. Very inspirational!

I used to be a Stephen King fanatic - but most of his books since The Regulator's I feel are basically "re-write's" of the same theme. His best books IMHO and in my order are: The Stand, IT, The Green Mile, The Shining.

Now....I just heard that Jean Auel is putting the finishing touches on books 6 & 7 of the "Earth's Children" series. They are slated to be on the bookstands by mid 2009 (book 6) and mid 2010 (book 7). I might have to re-read books 1-5 just to refresh my memory!

Next on my reading list is to re-read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to refresh my memory before the movie comes out in November. My DH hates it when I do that because I end up tearing the movie apart!!

There is a really neat kids book that all fans Disney need to read, and that is The Kingdom Keepers - by Riddley Pearson! I truly enjoyed his twist on the Magic Kingdom!

For a long time I was a Stephen King fan. I used to do audio books, too, on my commute to the hospital, but lately I have been listening to podcasts. I haven't read a novel in a while. On our last camping trip I started reading a novel by Garrison Keillor which I had in the camper from an earlier trip and never got around to. This guy is hilarious.

I love Garrison Keillor!! Of course, I'm Lutheran! His stories about the church crack me up because they are so true!! And...every one of my casserole pans have my name on them, and I can make 57 varieties of Jell-o Salad!!

I used to listen to him on public radio every Sunday night. I grew up in a small town and his humor is universal for small towns in america.

I love Garrison! i love to read, too! Right now my choices are dictacted by my book club and we are currently working on Gone with the Wind. I love the Big Stone Gap Trilogy, being from this part of the country. Then again, I've liked everything by Adriana Trigiani. I also recently enjoyed "The Memory Keepers Daughter" by Kim Edwards and "Correlli's Mandolin" by Louis De Bernieres. If you want a fun chick book....pick up something by Jennifer Weiner!

I've got to second Kingdom Keepers!!!!! Meija was so inspired after reading that, that she is working on her own Disney fantasy story....with a seguel already in mind!

If you want a good Disney themed book, read Waking Walt by Larry Pontius. I know a guy who knows a guy who knows him and I got a personalized autographed copy (brag brag). It's really good and since Pontius worked for the Disney company for many years, there is a lot of historical references.

Also, The Gospel According to Disney is good. The author escapes me, but he was a minister who wrote several sermons based on Disney films and compiled them in this book.

I just dug out my copy and the author is Philip Longfellow Anderson. I see there is now a book by the same name by Mark Pinsky which I have not read. It is possible the one I have is now out of print, but it's a good read if you can find the original.

With the kids getting older, I get to read again! They used to hate it when I read because I get so lost in my books that I didn't talk to them. Now it's you can read Mom - Bye! I really like John Grisham's books and I am catching up on his books. I am reading "The Appeal."
My DD12 saw Kingdom Keepers at Disney last trip so we have been trying the local library but no luck. We'll have to go to the book store or wait until we go back.

All good sounds to me. You're going to have to wait for the release of the next Harry Potter movie until June 2009. They want to wait until his association with his Broadway show is over. They don't want him fielding questions about his nakedness on stage and adult scenes. I too love the Harry Potter books. I go to so many extremes. Robin Cook, mostly medical, and Grisham too.

I enjoy Keillor. I also do a lot of crime fiction and true crime. I am trying to get all of Dick Francis's novels, still have a few to go. Before I die I have to see a steeplechase, preferably in England. Also do a lot of crossword puzzles, though like Jen, I spend more time reading DIS than anything else lately!
