What do you put on your "I'm Celebrating" buttons?

Hello! I thought it would be fun to get some ideas of what other folks put on their "I'm Celebrating" buttons. In a couple months my DD and I are going on our first mother/daughter trip, it will also be our first trip as APs, so I'd like to pick up buttons but I'm still undecided of what to put on them.

Also, as a follow up, does anyone know if you can get the celebration buttons at HS or AK? I've always just gotten them at MK. Thanks!!

You can get them at any of the parks. We've done Birthday, Anniversary, and Graduation.

I was chatting with a CM at Epcot a couple of years ago. DH and I were first in line at our tapstile for RD. I mentioned we were taking a short trip because I found out I was pregnant and so the longer trip we had planned for later in the year would be a no-go. I was only 15 weeks along, so not showing at all yet. She told me she'd be right back and came back with "I'm celebrating" buttons for both of us. On them, she'd written "It's a baby!" and my due date. It was really nice of her to do.

My last trip was a couple of weeks before my better half's birthday, so she got a birthday button.

It was the first trip for the rest of my family, so the CM at Riverside got all of them "First Trip" buttons. It wasn't my first trip, but it was 23 years since the last time I was there, so she had a 5th "First Trip" button, and then wrote "in a while" underneath it!

I think the buttons are over used, and I don't like it. I remember my son's first trip back in 2005 we got him a button and had several CMs made a big deal out of it, it was great and he loved it! Fast forward to my girl's first trip in 2016, the girls got no special attention because of the buttons (which was fine, really it was). I just think they used to be special...... now everyone is wearing them for whatever reason they can think of.

BFF had a 1st Visit button and my 'celebrating' button said 'my BFF'. I've also had 'my retirement'.

When we were there in April I went to guest services at Epcot to get our friend a "1st Visit" button (51 years old - 1st visit!) and get my daughter her "I'm Celebrating" button to write "Class of 2017". The CM game me 2 additional "I'm Celebrating" buttons and told us to write "Haillie's Graduation!" So we all had buttons that trip. I've been over 15 times and that's the 1st time I've ever gotten a button for anything!

I've only ever done Birthday and First Visit buttons but I've seen TONS of great I'm Celebrating buttons. My most memorable one I saw was "I'm cancer free!" We gave her a huge congratulations and she was absolutely beaming. Many, many graduates had them on at Disneyland this summer too. Heck, anything can be a celebration! Maybe you can do "Mom/Daughter 1st AP Trip." I'm not that creative on the fly so I'm sure other DISers here can think of catchier ones.

Also a good tip I learned - ask the CM if they will cover their writing with clear scotch tape for you. I had my writing accidentally rub off all over my bicep from sunscreen and it was messy! Now I always politely ask for some tape and some CMs have told me they never even thought of that idea! You can still see the message but won't end up with a crazy looking arm like I did. I actually thought I got hurt on a ride and just hadn't realized it until my boyfriend noticed my smudgy pin!

I agree. I had one for our Anniversary one year, which was nice because we went there FOR our Anniversary. And we did the First Visit for our daughters. I personally don't think you should use a button unless you are actually there celebrating something specific. A birthday or anniversary that isn't the purpose of your trip, especially if it doesn't fall in your visit dates, feels like cheating to me. LOL. But I'm not judging!

Who says that everyone wearing a button isn't celebrating something or other? Lots of people go to Disney to celebrate things. And not everyone can go on the specific day of their celebration because of work, school, life in general. And it's just a button, after all.

If they're actually celebrating something that's great. I did say that. I have no problem if someone is actually celebrating "something." I just think some people use the button to get special perks, or hoping for pixie dust even if they aren't really celebrating anything.

While we were on our last trip, I was pregnant with our son. I had some genetic tests done before our trip, and the doctor called and told me the results were fine and that the baby was a boy while I was waiting for our reservation at Kona. The hostess heard me talking on the phone and got all of us - DH, our two girls, and me, I"m Celebrating Buttons - and wrote It's a Boy.

We got I'm Celebrating buttons on our last trip that coincided with my daughter's birthday.

After quite a few CMs asking us what we were celebrating, I thought about saying things like "getting out of prison", "tests coming back negative", "being cured off the Wild Turkey" (Christmas Vacation), or "new job with the carnival, spreading pixie dust on the Tilt-a-Whirl" (also think Christmas Vacation), but I just smiled and said "my daughter's birthday."

I've never had anything written on my buttons, but I do love reading others' buttons. I like to wish people a happy whatever or offer a congratulations. It doesn't bother me that a lot of people get celebration buttons. There's still a lot of people who don't even know they exist.

We will be celebrating our wedding anniversary during our visit. How do we get buttons?

When we've had long visits with free dining, each of us got a birthday button. We each had a day for celebrating our birthday. On that day, we ate at the TS restaurant that you picked. BUT, at home, we didn't eat out for those birthdays, because Mean Mama (me) said, "Your birthday dinner will be at WDW." So, one day of wearing the button on a multi-day trip. That probably doesn't help you think of anything for your trip.
