Hello to all!! I just registered for the TOT 10 miler, and its my very first race ever!! Ive never been a runner, a year ago I couldnt even run for 30 seconds straight, yet I could do an hour long cycling class. I've been training and at this time i have a 5k down with about 13 min pace, which for me I'm very proud of!

However, 10 miles is obviously going to take a lot of endurance, and I'd love to hear what everyone carries in their waist packs, as far as hydration, energy gels, etc. Any tips or suggestions would be so wonderful. Cant wait to see everyone in October at TOT! And i'm doing the PHM too!:cool1::woohoo:

I use the IFitness two pouch belt and love it. I hold a lot maybe even to much. I keep my Gu packets. If you haven't tried any yet that is something you should test out and find which one works for you. I don't like the cliff shots they mess with my stomach. My dad also doesn't like cliff shots/blocks or Gu but use some types of gummies.

I also carry my iphone in it along with some gum a camera and ID/money/room key.

again a lot of stuff.

Gels/bloks/beans and salt tabs. Maybe a phone for races I'm only running for fun.

I have not run a long race yet, running my first 1/2 on June 9th. I still need to get a belt. But I bring only bring with me my phone and during my two 10k races I had gummy bears. One time I had a light 'coat' on so I kept them in my pocket. The other time I had to put them in a snack size zip lock. I only had about 6, so it was not bad to hold them and my phone in my hand. ;)

I also have the iFitness double pouch belt, and it is wonderful! I usually carry my Jelly Belly sport beans, my phone, my car key (if I am out on the trail - room key at Disney!), and some tissues (my nose always runs when I run!).

I also have the hydration bottle add-ons for the belt - great for long runs!

I, too, use the iFitness double pouch for long runs. In it: Honey Stinger chews, Clif bar, ID card, car keys, Nuun tablet. I also use an armband for my iPhone - sometimes I switch the phone to my belt and keep the Clif bar in the armband. Also, a handheld water bottle with a tiny pouch just big enough for lip balm.

I have an iFitness single pouch hydration belt that I love. Before I leave the house, I fill the water bottles (sometimes 2, sometimes 4, depending on how far I'm running) with nuun water. My belt also has little loops that my energy gels fit in to. In the pouch itself, I usually only have my phone (which I use for music when I run), my keys (house or car), my id, and my debit card, for emergency Jamba Juice runs. :)

I try not to wear a waist pouch and love my Sparkle Skirt for the pockets. I also on long runs wear a water bottle on my lower back (this does go around the waist) it has a pouch for keys and or money if I need it. In my pockets I carry gels, potassium tablet (I sweat a lot and get cramps if I can't keep potassium in my muscles), lip balm, a hankie (if I'm running so's my nose), sometimes a stick of gum, and sunglasses if needed. I love the leg pockets on my sparkle skirt.

I love my Amphipod waist pack!!! For the PHM, I carried:

toilet paper for the port-o-potties (yes, I really did!) :lmao:
Gu - 2 packs
Phone
iPod
Disney room key
$20 cash (just in case they had something for sale afterwards that I might want -- I never used it)
precut moleskin (I get horrible blisters, but didn't use these, either)

I carry my phone on my armband, license and medical insurance card in the pouch, and enough Gu on the belt for the race.

Agreed. When I did my first half I bought all these gel gu shots...I felt like I was eating cake mix! - Yuck. It doesn't do it for me. I like the Jelly Bellies exteme however the gumps are best. So absolutely test out what you like first! They will be one of your saving graces in a race!
Good luck!

I think I quoted the op instead of the first poster....I meant I agreed with the first poster about testing the products out to see what you like best.

I keep one GU energy gel in mine. Chocolate outrage. It's like I'm eating a fudgecicle. It's amazing. I think I might also look into some other things too. I heard gummy bears and rice crispy treats are fantastic.
