My kids are getting on the old side for an Easter basket, but I don't really feel right about NOT doing one, either. I usually put a small gift in there, usually a CD or a DVD or something along those lines, and some candy. This year we are all trying to eat healthier so I'm looking for some other ideas.

How old are your kids, and what types of things do you put in their basket?

My kids are getting "Charlotte's Web," some goldfish and some candy. I might get them an outfit, too, but I just placed a big order with Lands End and I am feeling a little clothing budget pain, so that might not happen.

Mine too are a little old...10 and 14...but each get a CD or DVD with other treats. As far as treats, I try to think of some things, other than candy, that are luxuries for them. Like for some odd reason, they so enjoy the glass bottles of soda. Any soda is a treat that they don't usually have. So that goes in the basket. A McD's Arch card too - McD's is a treat for them

I don't think you are ever to old for baskets... I would get one from my Mom and Dad forever.

I am getting the girls DVD, outfit, sunglasses, bathing suit coverup, candy... Then I do a combo basket with sidewalk chalk, squirt guns (the weather is not going to be good for that)

For older kids... what about CDs or itunes gift cards. Think summer do they swim what about a new suit or goggles.

My mom would always get me some fun things but then fill it with things I needed too... my fave shampoo, lip gloss, hair clips and things like that.

I'm making 4 Easter baskets this year.

One for youngest DS, age 15. One for DBF (age 64;) ), One for each of the grandkids!:goodvibes

For the grandkids I put one small chocolate rabbit, a pair of yellow sunglasses with rabbit ears attached, a couple of rabbit sippy cups, and a copy of Charlottes' Web CD.

I gave the grandkids their baskets last night and they looked adorable in their sunglasses!:)

More but I can't think...

4 DVD's that she wanted

My girls are 7 and 4. In there baskets they will each get

-A new pair of crocs. NCSU for the oldest and UNC for the youngest
-Happy Feet DVD
- A new Webkins
-Hair Bands
-Bathing Suit
- Candy, Candy, Candy......

DD is 11. This year in her basket she is getting:

Lindt bunny (she has choosy chocolate tastes)
A manicure/pedicure kit from Bath and Body Works
A pair of flip-flops
An i-Tunes card for $10

I gave my nephews (aged 4 and 9) the following things in their baskets:

Kites (a fish for the toddler, a white owl a la Hedwig for the older one)
Balsam wood planes assemble and fly
Bubbles -- Toddler
Skateboarding pencils -- older boy
Nets for tide pooling

We avoid the candy thing -- DD isn't a big candy eater (although she loves expensive chocolate) and my nephews eat nothing but candy and I hate to encourage that!

My DD is 8 so it will be mainly candy and girly girl stuff. I am going to Target today to buy stuff.

But a tradition is the Easter bunny always bring panties. She potty trained when she was 2 and it was around Easter so for the last 6 years the bunny has been bringing her panties. She thinks it is hilarious.

Ugh, I still need to go out and get a Nintendo DS game for DS 12. Not doing anything big this year, but each of them should get a little something. DD 9 is getting the Disney princess fashion plates thing, the toy with interchangeable flat "tiles", then you can rub a crayon over paper and "trace" a new look.

My ds is 17 my dd is 18, my dd and I have an agreement that we will never stop our holiday traditions, starting last year she started making baskets for dh and I  . I put the usual candy and chocolate, plus a dvd each and gift card to their favorite store. We still color eggs, and this year ds will hide them and dh, dd, ddbf, and I will search for them. We love it and we probably will never stop.

My DD is 8 and her Easter Basket will have a bunch of Craft items in it with a little bit of candy. :thumbsup2

my mom gave us Easter baskets as long as I can remember:rolleyes1

ds6 really does NOT eat much candy at all...neither do we, so 1/2 of it usually gets eaten by my co-workers. I bought him some candy that he likes...the usuals I guess... chocolates, peeps, big bunny, coconut kisses, some other bags of candy... but other than candy, I bought him a new outfit, a few cd's (poc soundtrack and the new disney mania 5 or something like that ;) ) I got him a few dvd's as well. Charlottes web for sure!! I guess a mixture..candy, cd's, dvd's and of coarse a new outfit! We'll have an easter egg hunt, inside b/c its so cold!! I'll put some candy and $ in the eggs. He'll enjoy that!!:cool1:

DD9:

very little candy - she likes Lindt so we got her some of that and I also found a cute fairy bunny from Dove. Two Webkinz, a Beanie Baby bunny, Jibbitz, Kohls exclusive Littlest Pets, Bella Sara Horse cards, Klutz book of Lanyard crafts, and a book about optical illusions she asked for, the big tub of sidewalk chalk (so we can get rid of all the broken pieces and start fresh), the torpedos that light up for playing with in the pool. Might pick up small packs of Pokemon (although hoping the Horse ones will take their place) and some small outdoor stuff like a big thing of bubbles.....am glad I didn't already buy too much of that stuff 'cause she won a basketful of it at her school/PTA carnival last week....

OK - found a bag of stuff I had put away and forgotten about: American Girl punch art craft kit (meant to pick up some Disney puches and paper) and a book of fairy puzzles

My kids are 3, 6 and 9 - the 3 and 9 year old (boys) have HORRIBLE teeth - so we limit candy a great deal.

They will get a few jelly beans, some little chocolate eggs, and one "main" piece like a bunny etc. Other than that they are getting new toothbrushes, new underwear, a movie each, a small toy (Matchbox cars for the boys - a little polly pocket for my DD) - silly stuff like silly string, play dough, crayons. I think I have more stuff but I'd have to go look - lol

Well we dont make easter baskets in the UK, but we do buy the eggs even though the kids end up with more chocolate than they can eat and it ends up everywhere. Our kids usually get a small present like clothes or something but this year we got them a game for the Wii and an annual pass to a local science museum.

DD11 and DS6 will be getting High School Musical on Ice tickets this year in their baskets! The box seats were only 21.00 here and just went on sale this week, so I thought that would be a great idea! (even though the show isn't until October!) Generally, we do movie tickets or Mcdonalds cards. We have done Disney beach towels before. We put in a little bit of candy, stuff that we know they like and will eat before next Easter.

The DNephews (11 and 7) are getting:
Chocolate bunny
Stuffed annoying thing (yes, that's really the name)
Lightning McQueen Wallets
Game pens
Big Pens
Big pencils
Organizers
Cards

My brothers and Dsil's are getting candy and a chocolate bunny or appropriate chocolate.

DMom is getting:
Stuffed peep
2 things of peeps: sugar-free and red
Black jelly beans
licorice scottie dogs
3 pairs of reading glasses from target (2 regular, 1 sun)
Peter rabbit magnetic list
Toy Ernie from Sesame St
Entertainment book
hand soap and lotion
anti-bac spray
Poss. spatulas and bathroom wipes (I may give them to a visiting friend)

The cats are each getting a new toy mouse.

I know I'm getting some Hello Kitty pens, a stuffed bunny, and a Sally easter egg (my car is named Sally), but beyond that I don't know

No kids for me, but I am going to see 5 of the nieces & nephews on Easter. So I am giving them a little something. Each family (2 nieces (8 & 4) are sisters, 1 niece & 2 nephews (8, 6 & 3) are the other family) are getting Happy Feet DVD, Charlotte's Web DVD & NY Mets 2006 highlight DVD (we're all crazy Mets fans). I'm also giving them some small toys from the Dollar Tree (just opened on Monday!)--some Disney paddle balls, Disney frisbees, Disney markers.

I'm also giving my sister a basket. She, like me, isn't married & doesn't have kids. She's getting the Mets DVD & Happy Feet DVD, some Avon products.

I stay away from candy--they will get enough from the Easter Bunny.
