One of my good friends was just braging last night because she just bought her dd a new outfit and she only spent $79.95 on one outfit. Now i might be cheap but i have never bought my kids an outfit just to wear around that cost that much! What is the most you will spend on one outfit?

Pam

Well I have boys. If I had girls I might get more carried away.

Almost all of my kids clothes come from Old Navy or Childrens Place and I can't imagine spending more than $40 or so for an outfit.

Unless it's a special occasion, usually $10 per top/bottom is about all I'll pay. I'd rather spend that extra money on vacations!!!

I usually go for the 70% off rack at Osh Kosh... less than $10 per outfit. On occasion I'd go up to $25-$30, but not often.

T-shirts from clearance at TDS - $4.99 and under
Shorts - Target clearance - $5.00 (max I will pay)
Pants - Target clearance - $15.00 (max I will pay)

I got some pants for DS1 who needed it for school at JCPenney, but it was Buy 1 Get 1 for $.99 (Pants were $30.00 - Total for 2 pants $31.00)

I've bought their stuff off garage sales, and thrift shops. I refuse to buy them anything above $20.00 unless it's a really must have. If I can get it on clearance or thrift, that's where I buy.

I can't see spending a ton of money for clothes that won't last because of stains/rips/grown out in 6months.

As the mom of a 3 year old boy, I'd say, $20. Honestly, it'll just get dirty or he'll out grow it in about a few months. LOL! If it's a special occasion I'd spend more, but not for every day clothes.

I buy alot of his clothes at Old Navy and the newer Toys R Us with the nicer clothes section...also some from Target, Walmart and Kohl's. I've bought clothes from Ebay as well, and those are mostly play things.

I just can't fathom spending a ton and seeing it get dirty from play, or outgrown in a matter of months. I don't spend that much on MY clothes and I don't get them that dirty or out grow them. LOL! It just isn't necessary, in my opinion. You CAN get cute clothes and not spend a fortune.

I too stick with Children's Place or Old Navy. My daughter is outgrowing things so fast, not to mention the stains she gets so I refuse to pay a lot for her clothes. Maybe when she is older and things last for more than one season I will pay more. I don't even like to spend a lot of money on my clothes.

I have 3 boys, so I probably don't get as carried away. However, the older they get, the more the clothes cost and now they can tell thrift store vs. Abercrombie.

I should've mentioned that my daughter is my mom's only grandchild, so she buys her TONS of clothes. She pays far more than I ever would ;)

I buy alot of clothes for my friend's 2 girls on their birthdays. (they are 3 and 5 currently)

I can usually spend $50 at old navy and get them2 outfits and an 'accessory' - like sunglasses or a notebook, etc...)

I've also shopped at H&M for them (REALLY cheap clothes there though - don't last through many washings) and Target (which holds up pretty well I'm told)

I spent about that much on an outfit for DD at Gymboree. That included a dress, matching sweater, matching hat and matching socks. She wore it for several special occasions we had planned. I wouldn't normally spend anywhere near that amount on an outfit for everyday wear but for a very special occasion I probably would again. I buy DD's everyday clothes on sale and spend anywhere for about $5-20 per outfit. She usually has 1-2 dresses each season that run about $25-30.

I spent that ($70) at Old Navy Outlet for a denim skort, button-down tie-front shirt, board skirt, polo shirt, terry shorts, terry jacket and two screen tees. Normally DD doesn't go for their style clothing, but she was running out of options. Her size was picked out most places and the selection elsewhere was terrible.

I have an additional $56 worth of shorts (3), capris (2), a Mickey tee and two tank tops on layaway at Walmart and that should get her through the summer.

I dread back-to-school shopping because I know she'll need all new clothes again.

Well, call me cheap, but I buy a lot of clothes for Pete from Target or Kohls. I just caught some very nice knee length shorts on sale at Target for $ 5.99/ea so I bought 4 pairs in navy, gray, khaki, and dark green.

They also had some wonderful thick t-shirts for $ 2.99/ea so I bought black, navy, red, and gray.

4 outfits for under $ 36.00!! :teeth:

What's weird is that he get a lot of compliments on how well dressed he is even though we get a lot of clothes for clearance (or as Pete says, "My mom got this from Clarence!). :teeth: :rotfl:

I get to spoil my neices and nephews and do buy the high end cloths...but with four boys my sister has good nice looking clothes that gets handed down from one to the next. This summer she didn't even need to buy the two younger boys any summer outfits. My neices also trade down from one family to the next . The cloths still look great.

$75 is probably my whole budget for the season for my three DDs. Honestly, one outfit -- that's crazy!! We do a lot of shopping at Target, garage/yard sales and thrift shops. In fact, my middle DD thinks that "Clearance" is a brand name like Gap, Gymboree, Children's Place, etc., and the oldest already knows not to ask for anything unless it's on the clearance racks.

Probablly way too much but I never see them so I go crazy when I do. They have a lot of Tommy H. a few pieces from CK, and I bought my little girl a mini LOuis Vuittion coin purse for her B day when she turned three.

whenever you wear the 'basics'...you always look more put together and, therefore, better dressed.

tee-shirts with screen printing on them or sayings, albeit trendy, kinda scream 'cheap'.

something classic - khakies/plain tee shirts always make you (or your kid) looks "stlyish" and "put together"

I've been watching WAY too much "What not to Wear"

(but - i do have to say - i LOVE little boys in khaki shorts and madras or plaid button down short sleeve shirts!)

right now my stores of choice are Old Navy, Target and Osh Kosh outlets...Osh Kosh gives an extra 10 or 20% if you mention you have twins. Goodys is good too but tend to get expensive if you dont shop the clearance or sales racks.

I did pay $98 for a dress for DD once but she wore it to two weddings, a bridal shower, a christening, a college graduation, and Easter. There was no way I was going to spend that much on a dress for a 5 year old without getting our money's worth!!!

We buy the basics from Old Navy, Target, and Land's End. Anything else comes from the sale racks of Talbots, Nordstroms or the Gap.
