And don't forget the purse!
My husband carries a 21" duffel with all of the life necessities (toiletries, meds, sunscreens, etc., camcorder, his and my swimsuits, pool shoes, and anything else I can cram into it). The kids each carry a bag that has their swimsuit, cover-up, and poolside shoes as well as their personal needs, i.e., GameBoys, books, ear planes, etc. I carry my purse with the essentials of life $$, credit cards, lipstick. . .and my DC bag that has the really important stuff--res confirmations, PS itinerary, limo confirmation, PAP, etc. . .
The bulk is checked and is usually one large pullman bag for the entire trip.
I was really glad I packed this way two years ago when NW lost our luggage on a nonstop flight to Orlando. We didn't get our luggage until after 6:00 p.m. and we wanted to swim that afternoon because we'd already spent a lovely a.m./early afternoon at a sweltering AK and needed a refresher before dinner. Since the luggage arrived late, we didn't have a change of clothes for Chef Mickey's. To further complicate our arrival day, our concierge room wasn't ready until after 6:00 p.m.--that was not one of our better check-in days!
