What do you mean I can't add more days?!

We did the math and Legoland will be getting our extra day too. It will cost us about the same as it would have to get another day at Disneyland, but it will be a new experience for our family. We have always bought AP's in the past but with the last price increase they priced us out of the market. Now this? It seems like they want to cater to the local market instead of us out-of-townees.

For us it will be about $200 cheaper to have our free day at legoland. We are excited! Just hoping that future trips we can have some extra days at Disney but this year is a no go!

I wonder if Disney will ever offer longer parkhoppers to guests staying at THEIR RESORTS inc. DVC sort of like a length of stay park ticket good for day of arrival and day of departure? I think doing this would have alot of people looking at staying on property. IIt is so sad IMO that guests that travel a long distance at a great financial cost so going more then once a year is out of the question would need to buy an annual pass for visits to park longer then 5 days.

I hope Disney re-evaluates the new ticketing system.

I also hope Hydroguy has good scoop and that finger measuring sill be at DL soon and we can start buying 6+days tickets again.

I am so glad I happened to see the last ticket price increase and bought 6 day tickets for Daughters family and husband. I did force myself to buy an annual pass -- wink wink. I bought a premium annual pass last year and only used it for 6 days . Went with the Deluxe this year. Sort of wish I would have gotten the prem. in case I do get to go back duing the year. Cost to upgrade is to much to upgrade now. Oh well.

I know it's too late for some but I'd like to thank this site for keeping me up to date on possible prices increases - I snagged my 6 day Hopper tickets for $229 in May. I have this teeny kernel of doubt that they'll deny me our tickets when we go to the Gate because they were too cheap.

Assuming they do understand it, why did they use this as the mechanism to curtail fraud when other superior mechanisms are readily available?

Actually, I do have a burning question. Do we even know that TDA made the decision? Or did this come from head of WDP&R, which btw is headed basically by TDO???? I mean, there have been other top exec decisions that TDA did not like and that do not work well for DLR but TDA's decision gets over-ridden by those in charge, far far away. I've experienced this in my work life as well. We needed a new social services building for a County welfare and social services office in one city. The big wigs were in a different city (county seat). They let the big wigs plan our building and made some really BIG blunders because they did NOT have the proper understanding of our business needs. They later have to spend $ to fix the mistakes (yes after a building was built and occupied). So, even well paid execs make colossal errors and get it wrong. <cough, cough> Netflix? Maybe TDA agrees with us (and maybe not).

Feel free to substitute any TLA (Three Letter Acronym) that you choose. I suspect that TDO (or even Burbank) also understands the laws of supply and demand.

I think what was so frustrating was their response of "No one stays more than 3 days" Really? Because...there's what, 17 pages now on this thread with people who stay more than 3 days. We traveled with 3 children, my youngest being a 9 month old. While yes, we did ride all the rides we wanted to...it was nice to take it slow and not be rushed. I contemplated buying the anuual pass when I was informed that it was my only option...and then pointed out that it was blocked out on the dates I was wanting to use it. The CM ended up giving us the additonal days for free. His remark was that he could only give them to me since he did not have a way to sell them to me. I hate that scalping is a problem for Disney but they are creating a problem for those of us who plan and save and come from far away just to enjoy the unique and wonderful experience that is Disneyland. We will be back, we love the DLR. I do feel that they very much cater to the locals. It's such a strange feeling when WDW does almost the exact opposite.

It worked out for us in the end and most likely this was a rare trip for us, I've never needed more than 5 days before and doubt I will again but I want the option available if I do!

Isn't it because they've had problems with people scalping the additional 6th-8th day tickets? There may be enough of us that use them, but I think there are significantly more that abuse them. With the expense of Carsland and a weak economy they're probably doing everything they can to stay on top of things. The best way to solve that problem is to install the fingerprint machine like they have at WDW. But that might not be worth the expense for an additional $5 per occasional ticket.

It would not be that expensive to add photos to the 6-8 day hoppers...why don't they do that?

My sister was able to add a day to her sons 5 day pass on Friday for $5.

I had an accident where I ruined 2 7-day Park Hoppers (received from Airmiles). They stuck together and the bar code could no longer be read. I planned to use these in December and obviously I was pretty upset about it.
On this SAME Friday (August 31) they were able to print me off brand new 7-day Park Hoppers. It seems their machine is still programmed to print a 7-day ticket.
Now it took half an hour and 3 CM's to do it.
So I am pleased I won't have to worry about paying more money and only getting a 5-day pass when I've booked an 8 day trip.
