Sorry if there has already been a thread like this.

I know there are others out there (like me) who don't need to go on 30 or more rides/attractions in one day at Disneyland and DCA.

What other things do you enjoying doing on your trips to the parks?

To me, no trip is complete without at least some of the following....

People watching. Disneyland and DCA are two of the best places to people watch! I like to just sit on a bench and watch people walk by. It's interesting to see all the different types of peope that come to the parks. And I love seeing the little toddlers asleep in their strollers....too funny! (Especially if they are wearing princess costumes....adorable!)

Taking photos. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to take photos...and Disneyland is a great place to do it. I have probably thousands of photos that were taken in the parks. Photos of flowers, attractions, the castle, etc. I love them all....especially the ones taken around Christmas.

Watching people swing dance. There are some really good swing bands over in Carnation Plaza (or whatever it's called) and a lot of people dance during the songs. There are some good dancers...and some not so good dancers...all of which are fun to watch. I've never had the guts to get out there...but maybe some day. On a few occasions we've seen this older couple. His shirt always matches her dress. I'm guessing maybe she made them herself. They are by no means excellent dancers but they have their own style and their own moves. Everyone loves them!

Eating snacks. I enjoy getting a snack before I people watch or watch the swing band. Sometimes I go for something unhealthy like a chocolate chip cookie and sometimes I'll get veggies. It adds to the fun of people watching.

Hidden Mickeys. I like finding hidden mickeys. I even have a great book that lists locations but it's also in the form of a scavenger hunt. Very entertaining.

Okay...that's all for now. What are some things you guys like doing??

listening to live music at DTD
Smelling the flowers
Parades and fireworks

Watching Billy Hill & the Hillbillies, espcially if Kirk Wall is performing.
Spending time in the Animation Studio in DCA
Relaxing downstairs at the Hungry Bear, waving to people on the Mark Twain and canoes.

Disneyland has the best flowers! And I love how they change them with the seasons. The tulips and daisies are my favorites.

LOVE the fireworks. Best fireworks display I've ever seen.

At DCA...I like to stand near Grizzly River and wait for big wave to go over the side of the boat and drench everyone...haha.

I also like to watch the launch on California Screamin'. And sometimes the water over there gets some waves that splash up and get the people on the ride waiting to launch. That's always good for a laugh.

Fantasmic
fireworks
hanging out on the other side of grizzly river run watching the waterfall and drinking wine from the trattoria
hanging out on the walkway by btmrr...its so peaceful over there by the water
people watching

my husband proposed to me on that bridge over by big thunder. now THAT was a good night at disneyland!

Ride one transportation up Main Street and another one back. Fun way to people watch and be in the middle of everything. (Does that count as a ride?)

Interaction with characters

Souvenier shop/watch my kids trade pins

Parade

Listen to the music that is easy to tune out

Relax with a Dole Whip

Talking ot the CMs. Were always amazed at how nice CMs are to a person being that WDC is such a huge company, 20,000 employees just for the DLR.

I like to simply walk around.

I try to pick the brains of the older CMs around Main Street to get new nuggets of information. I would rather have an insighful conversation that yields some new information than go on a ride!

Oh, I forgot one. The First 50 Years show will be on every agenda from now on. Great show!!

aww no kidding...

Yep! March 21st, 2005. Big Thunder has always been my favorite ride and I love that area with the bridge and water. (Although now Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom is tied at the top of my list of rides...haha.)

Relaxing in front of the fire in the GCH lobby sipping a drink.
Relaxing in the pool area sipping a drink.
Relaxing on my balcony, watching the SunWheel after dark, sipping a drink.
Relaxing at the Uva Bar, people watching, sipping a drink.

I also like interacting with the characters, wandering through the park in the early morning enjoying the ambience before the people get there, and the electric atmosphere after dark. I love the ELP at DCA.

And, there is also enjoying all of the anticipation on the 5:00 am plane ride on the way there--sipping Coffee! Hah, fooled you! :)

Pin trade
Sit down on a bench with a frosty lemonade and people watch
Tortilla factory! yumyum
Meet the characters
Shop!

Sit.

Snag a latte and chocolate chip cookie from the "permanent" cart to the left of the castle and take that first sip and bite.

Watch the geyser get people (especially those without ponchos) on Grizzly.

Sit in NOS and enjoy it for what it is while at the same time wish I could get over to the real New Orleans again.

And then, assuming I'm on another solo trip, speed it up and go on a whole bunch of rides so I feel that I've had a full day. :)

  • Snacking (& lemonade with a shot of vanilla!)
  • Dole Whip:cloud9:
  • Shopping
  • watching the kids pin trading is a good one too
  • Enjoying the music (DCA has great tunes)

I've never done pin trading before. It's probably a good thing I didn't start that while living there. I have an addictive personality and I know if I start pinning trading I will surely love it...haha.

Lunch with the Billys!!!!
Miner 49ers over at DCA
Anamation Studio at DCA
First 50 years with Steve Martin

I'm not picky, as long as it contains plenty of smooth, high proof liquor and a generous portion of ice.
