What do you like/not like about BLT?

Don't love :
*some lake views are sort of more of a pool view with the lake in the distance.
*some of the furniture---looks cheap
*difficult in getting MK views even in the 8-11 month window
*walkway from main Contemp to BLT (had to walk across during a rain/wind storm and it was HORRIBLE. Felt like a wind tunnel and we got soaked !)
*hearing about small studios but haven't stayed in one yet (will be in Oct though)

LOVE :
*proximity to the MK (our fav park !)
*TOWL (love the views/lounge/fireworks)
*some of the decor like the wall hangings (feels very disney) and bedding
*shower in 1/2 bedroom villas !
*ease in getting back and forth to the Contemporary for dining/shopping
*MK views !
*easy parking with access directly into the main BLT building

Initially we weren't going to buy into BLT. So glad we did now.

That was the problem, I really felt no vibe at all. It felt rather cold and sterile. It just didn't make me feel like I was at WDW or anyplace special. Kind of hard to describe I guess.

I agree. I thought the decor was gorgeous but I could have been in NYC, Miami, Toronto, Vegas etc.

We are brand new DVC members with BLT as our home. Thank you for all your comments, we're planning to visit in June 2012. I'm looking forward to reading more comments about BLT!

I don't know...I think BLT is fairly "disney'd-out" as far as themeing that would make it distinctive to WDW. I'm referring to artwork in room & common areas like the lobby & hallways.....hidden mickey's in bed comforters & carpet.....

While I get some don't love the very modern design, I do feel it has themeing which differentiates it from hotels in other areas ? Maybe it's just me, but I feel the themeing is there.

one issue we had was if you stay on floors 2 or 3 you have to go to the 4th floor to get rid of your trash

We love BLT. We love being able to walk to MK and take the two monorails over to Epcot. I love being able to take the monorail over to the GF for dinner.

Some don't like the pool being in the shade from the resort but we like it because we burn so easily so this could be a negative or positive for you. I love the view of the lake, it's so peaceful at sunrise. I wish they had shears on the windows...why would they not put in shears

I don't mind the hotel feel or the decor of the rooms. The only other dvc resort I have to compare to is AKV, which we like but not as well as BLT. I prefer the kitchen in BLT and DH prefers the kitchen at AKV.

Prior to becoming DVC members, we always stayed in moderates so the one bedroom is really nice even though there are only 3 of us. The studios feel too much like a moderate, at least at BLT and AKV they do.

BLT is no doubt right in the center of action. It's not designed to be a lounge-around resort, but one that will kick your rear into gear and point out all the things to do. The monorail, the boats, even the magic kingdom are right there in view. There are no over-sized comfy chairs in the lobby to settle into and zone out from. Not very much in the way of decor that makes you slow down and linger

None of these things are negatives. It's all part of the design of BLT and help to make the resort fun I would not want to stay my entire vacation in such an environment, but staying the first few days at BLT worked well for us before moving over to VWL for the relaxing part of the trip.

The one thing about BLT I'd like to voice concern over is the number of chairs at the pool. We stayed in July of last year and wound up over at the contemporary pool as there were no chairs to be found at BLT. It was a bit of a let down to not have enjoyed the resort's pool when we had time for it, but the contemporary pool was far less crowded and it's fun too.

I have a feeling we will do split stays 5 -6 night BLT doing parks and then switch to one of the lower key resorts for 3 nights to relax before heading home!

My favorite thing at BLT is Top Of the World

I love seeing the fireworks from there. We are getting in late on this next trip so our plans are pizza for the teens in the room and we all go see the fireworks at ToW then kids go eat pizza while mom and dad have drinks and hopefully the beef flatbread (reminds me of Rose and Crown).

I love the easy trip to get drinks at the contemporary and the walk way is nice when it is not 29 degrees and windy.

I loved the monorail availability. The gift shops in the Contemporary, wish one was in BLT or at least a drink station on the first floor or at the ToW. Trust me I would still order drinks at ToW since the refillable drinks are just soda and coffee.

Love the 5-10 min walk to MK. Depending on the temp at 29 degrees you can make it in 5 mins you run to keep warm. LOL We are going Nov 2-12 hope there are no record breaking cold temps then, I want to enjoy that pool

We also stayed at AKV Kidani and we had the room the furthermost from the lobby and it really put a damper on my stay there. However we are going to go back for the last 2 days of our stay. The last 2 days we will spend in the Animal Kingdom which is a skip jump and hop from AKV.
