DH and a friend have formed an acoustic group and have narrowed the names down to two choices. Please vote and help them choose!

I think I like binary regression... I had a hand in coming up with it for one thing (though I thought up binary progression) and it sort of fits them because they're both computer geeks.

Kind of depends on the type of music to me...

I don't like either. "Worst Kept Secret"? Meh.

And isn't Binary Regression a statistics term?

How do either of these names reference the spirit or attitude of the band?

I'll ask my DD when she gets up. But don't hold your breathe it is only 10 so it won't be for a while. She has many friends with bands so I'll get her opinion. My other thought is maybe you should head over to the teen board or the college board because I'm not too sure how the opinion you get on this board -sorry folks-from mostly Mom's and "older" folks will realistically give you a good reflection of the attractiveness to the market I'm sure your DS is aiming for.

I don't know if I'd go with a band name that had "worst" in it. Binary Regression kinda sounds like an 80's synth pop band.

If they want to play to a large audience they could call themselves Free Beer.

The ads could read: Tonight--Free Beer

I didn't vote since neither really appeals to me (sorry:flower3:)

Worst Kept Secret is okay but does not sound right somehow (maybe it is the pp's issue of having "worst" in the name) and Binary Regression is too esoteric and geeky for a band name--even for a geek like me.

Well, the market is actually the middle aged crowd. Hubby and friend are 38 and 43 and would be playing to that age group. Where we live, it's become a pretty popular thing to go to small bars and listen to acoustic groups.

Oh, and they'll be doing covers of 70s, 80s, and 90s music. Grateful Dead, Floyd, Doors, etc. They've had 3 gigs so far and have gone over GREAT. People really like them. :goodvibes

Do either of them play slide? If so, how about "Steven Slater's Exit Strategy"?

Oops sorry! I read quickly and thought I saw DS, sorry.
Speaking as a middle age person I vote for short and sweet how about just Binary?

Short and sweet is just an expression meaning don't get wordy not a suggestion. saw another poster thought I was suggesting it.

The PP's Binary would be cute:thumbsup2. Short and Sweet is not bad either. Knowing now that I am pretty much your target audience (though I do not think 30 something is quite middle age:rolleyes1) I would really steer away from both names--I cannot imagine myself heading to hear either (or Free Beer:upsidedow).
Other ideas that seem (to me) to fit your audience that spring to mind:

Simply Strings
Homemade Bread (simple, old fashioned and everybody loves it)
Guys and Guitars

I voted for Worst Kept Secret.......but personally I am fond of 'Moustache Cannon' which is our Wii Rockband name (and we RULE!!!) :rockband:

Best choice yet! :lmao: Just plain Exit Strategy would be good, but I think there's already a band around here with that name.

And who knows, if neither name goes over well they can always change it. Groups around here are constantly changing names and it's not too hard to keep up with.
