So I'm currently reading "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World: Over 600 Secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom" by Susan Veness and it got me thinking of a post for this thread.

What tips, facts, tidbits, etc do you know about WDW that you feel is not common knowledge or known by other WDW visitors?

Ohhhh! Which side would that be?

Which ever side you go in past the fireplace changing picture before the stretch room you want to line up on the same side as the fireplace. The hallway runs between the two stretching rooms to the Doom Buggies. Hope that makes sense.

I had fun reading that book, too. Take some of the things listed with a grain of salt, however. Many have been obsoleted since it was written. They might be needing to revise the name of the book to 400 things.

You might also enjoy the imagineering field guides series of books.

Didn't quite make sense to me. Are there different entrances into the stretching room? I thought you just walked in and moved to the left, which is where the doors open.

Stand under the picture of the girl walking on the wire.

shhhhhhh - don't tell anyone else.

There are two stretching rooms.

Look for the picture of the lady holding the umbrella. That is where the door opens.

I've heard the best kept Disney secret. :)

I have a bunch of random factoids, but I've been in the utilidors before. That's something that most guests haven't done or don't even know about.

Aw, now you have me itching to know this best kept Disney secret! ;)

Did you get to go in the Utilidors because you were on a tour or was it a by chance thing?

I just started the book but I've already noticed some items that didn't seem like they were still being done to this day - ex: Tom Sawyer's Island paint brushes. I wish there were more books out like this, tho!

But if you linger, the gargoyle candle sconces start talking to you. Finally experience this last trip.

Are the gargoyle sconces in the stretching room? I should know this, but I am having a hard time picturing it. I just want to make sure I experience this next time I do Haunted Mansion! Sounds so cool!

I recall when that book came out about 5 years ago or so. There were many entries pointed out here on these boards that were out of date back then, when it was first published. I would find little value in that book, and quite misleading in many areas.

I know that what might be a 10 or 15 minute walk from one place to another on stage may only be a 15 second walk backstage.

Isn't there also a tiny red light on the door that opens from the stretching room(s)?

Yep! Look for the red light and stand under the girl with the umbrella. I used to get so annoyed with my boyfriend (now husband) because he learned this trick pretty early on and even though it's great it kept me from seeing my favorite picture!!!

Swan and Dolphin usually are cheaper and have rooms available, especially when no conference and you can walk to epcot and MGM.

John Lennon dissolved the Beatles while staying at the Polynesian. Wish I knew which building and room. Will be there in June!!
